Ten Questions With… Nicole Mejias (Sekai Project)

Fans of the Boy’s Love genre should know by now that Sekai Project is running a Kickstarter for Witch boy Magical piece. With little over a week left to back the project and still some ways to go for it to reach its goal, we caught up with Nicole Mejias to find out more about the game and why players should show their support

X-Men: Reign Of Apocalypse

X-Men: Reign Of Apocalypse

X-Men: Reign Of Apocalypse does not stray very far from the traditional side scrolling beat ’em up roots. The visuals are pretty good, but the gameplay is very generic and combat can feel a bit stiff. It is not a terrible game, but the lack of depth will mean that once it is over you more than likely will not return to it.

Gameplay: Very limited.

Graphics: Bright, colorful and quite detailed.

Sound: The music is fine, but the sound effects repetitive

Just Cause

Just Cause

Just Cause starts with a bang, but runs out of steam way too early. The huge gameworld is certainly impressive, but up close the flaws are all too apparent. Once you add in easy missions, repetitive gameplay and a lot of annoying quirks the shine soon wears off. There is still loads of fun to be had by messing around, but do not expect this to be close to Grand Theft Auto.

Gameplay: Had a lot of potential, but unfortunately fall somewhat short.

Graphics: Very impressive from a distance, but not so good up close.

Sound: Not very memorable

Witch Boy Magical Piece by Sekai Project

Witch Boy Magical Piece by Sekai Project

Out now on Kickstarter and in need of some love is Witch Boy Magical Piece from Rosemary House and Sekai Project. In contrast to most of the previous titles from Sekai Project, this localization falls in the Boy’s Love genre. Although already Greenlit by the Steam community, Witch boy Magical Piece is still in need of some serious support on Kickstarter to have a chance of reaching its funding goal

Excite Truck

Excite Truck

Excite Truck is a frantic arcade racer that never slows down or attempts to be even remotely realistic. Its all about hurtling around tracks and flinging your truck through the air in a quest to amass as much stars before the race ends. The weak multi-player and longevity issues drag it down but it is still a lot of fun, while it lasts.

Gameplay: Nice fast paced arcade racer.

Graphics: While not spectacular it is still pretty good overall.

Sound: Sound effects are OK but the music is a bit grating

Every Extend Extra

Every Extend Extra

Every Extend Extra is a unique title, but it is not going to appeal to everyone. Fortunately, there is a free version available for computer which will give you a good indication of what to expect. If you like arcade shooters with a bit of a puzzle element, then you will appreciate what this game has to offer.

Gameplay: Fast and frantic, but won’t appeal to everyone.

Graphics: Very psychedelic.

Sound: Integrated well with the gameplay

Meteos

Meteos

At first Meteos seem to be much too simple, especially considering how crowded the falling block puzzle genre is, but one only has to play it for a few hours to discover how deep and addictive it really is. Definitely another essential DS puzzler.

Gameplay: Extremely simple but very addictive.

Graphics: Nothing special but still looks good.

Sound: Q Entertainment knows how to craft some catchy tunes

All Guns On Deck (Decaying Logic)

All Guns On Deck (Decaying Logic)

Seemingly satisfied with dominating the jigsaw puzzle genre on Steam, Decaying Logic has turned their attention naval combat. Well, strategy, real time tactics, action RPG, and naval combat to be exact. Combining all these genres into something that not only works, but is actually fun to play is quite a task, which is why the developers opted for Early Access to ensure everything is done right

Crash Team Racing

Crash Team Racing

A nice departure from the platform games in the series and packed with enough challenges to keep you busy for ages. There’s not much here you haven’t seen before, but Crash fans should have a good time.

Gameplay: Pretty straightforward, but still fun.

Graphics: Quite good all things considered.

Sound: All the familiar Crash Bandicoot voices and sound effects

Legends of Solitaire: Curse of the Dragons

Legends of Solitaire: Curse of the Dragons

Legends of Solitaire: Curse of the Dragons is another game that retains all the addictive elements of Solitaire, but mixes in some other cool features as well. The fantasy setting is great as it allows for plenty of varied backgrounds, while the use of items and abilities during levels keeps things interesting. With 400 rounds to conquer this is a game that will keep players hooked for ages.

Gameplay: The game is addictive and poses quite a challenge on the Hard difficulty setting.

Graphics: The widescreen support is nice and the game features tons of backgrounds.

Sound: The soundtrack is relaxing, if a little melancholic, and the voice acting is also quite good
