MAMIYA

MAMIYA

Mamiya is a visual novel that tackles themes that are pretty dark and disturbing. It can be confusing at first due to how it mixes the ordinary with the surreal, but once players are hooked, it is hard to stop reading. The beautiful CGs and incredible soundtrack also make it easy to get drawn into the twisted depths of the story. Mamiya is not for everyone, but thanks to the lengthy free demo, it is easy to find out whether or not you can stomach its bleak and oppressive story.

Gameplay: Although it is primarily a kinetic novel, there’s plenty of routes and different stories.

Graphics: The backgrounds are simple, but the sprites and CGs are outstanding.

Buildings Have Feelings Too!

Buildings Have Feelings Too!

Buildings Have Feelings Too! is an unorthodox title where the focus is on constructing, upgrading, and shuffling around buildings. Unlike most titles in this genre, the game is completely 2D and all the action takes place on the y-axis, which is unusual, to say the least. Due to a clunky user interface, some tedious elements, and a couple of difficulty spikes this game won’t appeal to everyone. However, if you get hooked by its charming visuals and can overlook some of the more cumbersome elements there is fun to be had here.

Gameplay: A little more tedious and cumbersome than it needs to be, but puzzle fans will enjoy the challenge.

Graphics: It’s hard not to smile at the sight of buildings ambling about on little legs.

Sound: The music and sound effects are decent

Lost Words: Beyond the Page

Lost Words: Beyond the Page

Lost Words: Beyond the Page doesn’t offer much of a challenge in terms of platforming or puzzles, but that doesn’t make it any less compelling. The heartfelt story effortlessly draws players in right from the start while the charming visuals and moving soundtrack round out the package. The game tackles very difficult subjects in a way that both young and old can relate to while the charming presentation makes it even more memorable. It is more of an interactive experience than a game at times, but we wholeheartedly recommend Lost Words to anyone who can appreciate a great story.

Gameplay: Very easy and accessible, but it is the story that really sets this game apart.

Graphics: Both the journal and story sections of the game are beautiful.

Sound: The soundtrack is incredible and the voice acting superb
