Borderlands: The Zombie Island Of Dr. Ned

Borderlands: The Zombie Island Of Dr. Ned

The Zombie Island Of Dr. Ned is a good example of how to do DLC properly. With some nice new areas, a new visual palette and an interesting storyline this should definitely not be missed. Zombies have been done to death before (pun intended) but Borderlansd proves that there is still some life left in the undead.

Gameplay: A tighter story and lots of zombie killing action.

Graphics: A completely new look and feel for the game.

Sound: Good but would have liked to hear some new battle cries

Fallout 3 – Operation Anchorage

Fallout 3 – Operation Anchorage

Operation: Anchorage takes place inside a military simulator and offers a unique look at one of the “historical” battles in the Fallout universe. The feel of the DLC is quite different from the main campaign and almost feels like an old Call of Duty title at times. With the RPG elements removed and the linear shooting sections taking the place of meaningful quests this DLC falls a bit short but still offers a pleasant enough diversion.

Gameplay: Makes for an interesting departure from the main game.

Graphics: Some snowy new environments and Chinese enemies.

Sound: Fitting

Duke Nukem Forever: The Doctor Who Cloned Me

Duke Nukem Forever: The Doctor Who Cloned Me

While The Doctor Who Cloned me is a entertaining experience it is not going to change the minds of those who have turned their back on the main game. With a four to five hour campaign feature plenty of shooting and new locations it is worth the price but don’t expect any visual improvements or drastic changes.

Gameplay: More focused than the main game but still some annoyances.

Graphics: No real improvements over the main campaign.

Sound: Some more quips from Duke but the music is less memorable

Go! Go! Nippon! 2015

Go! Go! Nippon! 2015

Fans of the original game will love the new locations, enhanced visuals and expanded story of Go! Go! Nippon! 2015, but newcomers are also in for a treat. The game is packed with information and offers a unique way to experience Japanese culture and tourist attractions without hopping on a plane. The lack of voice acting is a letdown, but overall this expansion lives up to expectations.

Gameplay: Lots of information about Japan and a lighthearted love story as well.

Graphics: The new animations are great and the widescreen visuals are a step up from the original game.

Sound: Still no voice acting, but the audio is very upbeat and fitting

Pinball FX2 – Marvel’s Ant-Man

Pinball FX2 – Marvel’s Ant-Man

Zen Studios know a thing or two when it comes to designing original and enjoyable pinball tables and Ant-Man is no exception. It features an open playing field, plenty of challenges and some very nice visual elements. Once again this is a table that will appeal to pinball lovers even if they are not necessarily fans of the Ant-Man license.

Gameplay: The table is a lot of fun and features plenty of challenges to master.

Graphics: Makes very good use of the Ant-Man license.

Sound: Good music and very decent voice acting

Pinball FX2 – Super League

Pinball FX2 – Super League

Zen Studios have been on a roll with great pinball table and Super League is no exception. Even if you are not a fan of football you’ll appreciate the flow of the table and the multitude of scoring opportunities. The football theme has been expertly interwoven with the gameplay in a way that not only makes sense but is very addictive as well.

Gameplay: A great table with nice ramps and an abundance of multi-ball opportunities.

Graphics: The different designs for each football club looks excellent.

Sound: Catchy music and nice sound effects recreate the atmosphere of a real football match

Pinball FX2 – Star Wars™ Pinball: Heroes Within Pack

Pinball FX2 – Star Wars™ Pinball: Heroes Within Pack

These are not the first Star Wars themed tables by Zen Studios, but they are certainly some of the best. This time you get four tables instead of the usual three and each one of these offers hours of gameplay. With so much variety and great table themes in the set, it is hard to pick a favorite and I found myself bouncing back and forth between tables all the time. If you are a fan of pinball and love Star Wars then this is an essential purchase.

Gameplay: Four Star Wars themed tables with great layouts.

Graphics: Another excellent use of the license.

Sound: Some of the speech snippets sound a bit “off,” but overall it is a great effort

Pinball FX2 – Plants vs. Zombies™ Table

Pinball FX2 – Plants vs. Zombies™ Table

It might have taken a while to reach PC, but this table is still every bit as good as it was upon first release. Zen Studios did a great job with the license and created a table that fans of the Plans vs Zombies franchise will love to play. It is simple to understand the goals, but feels a bit more challenging than the original console release.

Gameplay: A nice table that cleverly incorporates elements of the original license into the gameplay.

Graphics: Excellent use of the Plants vs Zombies license.

Sound: Familiar tunes and effects will make Plants vs Zombies players feel right at home
