It’s hard to believe that so much time has already passed since the release of EarthBound, but the game is already celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The game hit North American shores in 1995 as the second title in the “Mother” series and was available for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It’s been two years since the release of the rogue-like dungeon crawler, Wizard of Legend, so what better way to celebrate than with a mellow jazz album. The Billboard-charting Prescription for Sleep: Game Music Lullabies series already features albums dedicated to Undertale, Celeste, and Shovel Knight amongst others. The tracks on this album are once again performed by GENTLE LOVE, who as fans will know features Metal Gear Solid and Bayonetta series composer Norihiko Hibino on saxophone and Etrian Odyssey performer AYAKI on piano. There have been many Mario titles since the release of Super Mario 64 in 1996, but it still holds a special place in the hearts of many. Moving Mario into the third dimension was a big step for Nintendo, but they managed to pull it off with aplomb. It’s no secret that we have a soft spot for original game soundtracks here at GAMERamble and this week we had a particularly interesting one to listen to courtesy of Scarlet Moon. The soundtrack is the Indivisible OST PLUS, which is a special album of unused, alternate, demo, and other tracks inspired by Indivisible, the beautiful RPG from Lab Zero. The tracks are by Hiroki Kikuta, who composed the Indivisible soundtrack and has a repertoire that includes music for Secret of Mana, Soul Caliber V, Koudelka, Shining Blade and much more

If ever there was a reason for contrasting emotions it would be the news that the iconic Castlevania: Symphony of the Night soundtrack has received an orchestral arrangement album courtesy of Materia Collective. On the one hand, it is very exciting news as Michiru Yamane’s classic soundtrack is incredible to begin with and perfect for an orchestral re-imagining. On the other, the release is in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, which makes us feel old. We’ve certainly had our fair share of video game battles keeping us up way past bedtime, but never before have they lulled us to sleep. Games like Mega Man 2, Final Fantasy IV, Yoshi’s Island, Dark Souls and Super Metroid not only feature challenging enemies, but also some adrenaline pumping tunes to back up the action.
