Supreme League of Patriots (No Bull Intentions)

Supreme League of Patriots (No Bull Intentions)

When you get a press release asking if you want to meet the most offensive video game character, it is hard not to sit up and take notice. The character in questions is Kyle Keever, or more accurately, his super-hero alter ego The Purple Patriot and the game is Supreme League of Patriots by No Bull Intentions

Action Henk (RageSquid)

Action Henk (RageSquid)

Navigating tricky obstacle courses with a motorbike is one thing, but can you do it with an overweight action-hero toy? That is the question posed by Action Henk (and yes it is Henk and not “Hank”) a new game from the brilliantly named Indie developer, RageSquid. At first glance the game bears a passing resemblance to the Trials series from RedLynx, but surprisingly enough Henk is not only faster, but more maneuverable than a motorcycle

Lichdom: Battlemage (Xaviant)

Books and movies always portray mages as powerful and nearly unstoppable, but when it comes to gaming it usually only takes one or two hits from a lowly Kobold before your mage is out of action. Even if they do manage to avoid getting killed in the first few minutes of battle they are rendered useless after only a few powerful spells because their mana is depleted

Nekro (DarkForge Games LLC)

When developers admit that their game was born after a discussion about the desire to see innocent townspeople ripped to shreds by things that go bump in the night, you know you are in for something dark and twisted. Nekro does have a healthy dose of humor mixed into all the blood and gore though, but this Early Access title is still not for the faint of heart or anyone suffering from hemophobia

The Sandbox (Pixowl Inc.)

After already impressing players on iOS and Android, The Sandbox has made the leap to the PC and is available as an Early Access title interestingly enough. This shows that the developers are not just treating the PC version as a quick port and are willing to listen to player feedback in order to deliver a good game

Nom Nom Galaxy (Q-Games. Ltd.)

He who controls the soup controls the galaxy. That is why, as a worker for Soup Co. it is your mission to keep the soup flowing. It appears that the galaxy doesn’t particularly care what the soup is made of either as you can slap together just about anything to make some. The local wildlife obviously objects violently to being turned into a soup and Soup Co. also has powerful rivals so you have your work cut out if you want to survive this cut-throat business

Drifter (Celsius Game Studios)

Drifter (Celsius Game Studios)

While I never got into Elite, I spent countless hours playing Frontier: Elite II and Frontier: First Encounters. As much as I enjoyed the open world aspect of those games, the combat was really a pain, not to mention the bugs. There have been other titles, such as Privateer and Freelancer, but Drifter reminds me the most of those Frontier titles

Planet Explorers (Pathea Games)

It is not every day that an Early Access title comes along packing so many features that there is barely enough space to mention, let alone describe, everything in a short preview. Planet Explorers is exactly such a game and to say that we were impressed with what it has to offer would be an understatement

Vertiginous Golf (Kinelco & Lone Elk Creative)

Vertiginous Golf (Kinelco & Lone Elk Creative)

What better way to leave the drudgery of a dark, rainy, smog filled Victorian world behind, than to up stakes and live in the sunny skies above the clouds. This is exactly what the rich elite of Vertiginous Golf do. This is all thanks to the power of the Vertiginous Levitation System, which the poor workers back on the ground have to maintain. As a reward for their service, the workers are allowed to experience the wonders of the Vertiginousphere, albeit from a virtual perspective only

Fight The Dragon (3 Sprockets)

Fight The Dragon (3 Sprockets)

2014 is going to be a big year for role playing games, with plenty of hotly anticipated titles on the horizon. The problem is who has time for all these in-depth role playing games? Sometimes it is nice to just jump in, hack and slash your way through a dungeon, and stuff your backpack with all the loot. Fight The Dragon is a game that promised to deliver that role playing quick fix, without the need to remember why the world is in danger and how you are going to save it
