Glass Masquerade 2: Illusions

Glass Masquerade 2: Illusions follows in the footsteps of its predecessor with more of the same soothing jigsaw style puzzles. The gameplay remains unchanged, but the new theme features slightly more sinister-looking stained glass art to assemble from broken pieces. It’s still a very enjoyable experience, but overall it’s more of the same, so like the original, it will be a love it or hate it experience for most players.

Gameplay: Assemble stained glass images by piecing together the broken pieces.

Graphics: The art style is unique and some of the images are quite sinister.

Sound: Very soothing and relaxing

Puzzle Quest: Galactrix

Galactrix tries to improve on the classic Puzzle Quest gameplay, but falls far short in a lot of areas. The story mode is not very engaging and the game squanders a lot of its potential. At every turn, we encountered something that could have been good if it was implemented properly, which is a pity. The core gameplay is still addictive but becomes tiresome far sooner than the original ever did. Add to this some technical issues and you have a game that is hard to recommend.

Gameplay: The basic elements are addictive, but you have to put up with a lot of tedium.

Graphics: Not bad, but nothing stands out as great.

Sound: The soundtrack is decent, but everything else is pretty forgettable

Tetris Effect

Tetris Effect is not just one of the best looking versions of the classic game, but also the most addictive. In addition to the stylish “Journey” mode, there are a host of other variations on the Tetris theme to keep you coming back for more. The audio and visual style of the game is superb and it is only the lack of direct multi-player modes that dampens the fun a bit. Even if you already own some version of Tetris this is one that you should not miss.

Gameplay: Still a timeless classic.

Graphics: Very trippy and hypnotic.

Sound: Complements the puzzle action nicely

Time Mysteries: Inheritance – Remastered

Even in “Remastered” form Time Mysteries: Inheritance is one of the weakest titles in the Artifex Mundi catalog. The visuals are very rough and fuzzy due to the low-resolution artwork and the voice acting is spectacularly cheesy. It’s nice to travel to different centuries, but the locations in each are bland and unmemorable. Overall, there are so many other great games in the genre that this one can be safely skipped.

Gameplay: Very basic and unremarkable.

Graphics: Rough around the edges.

Sound: The voice acting is some of the worse we’ve heard for a hidden object game

Seven Doors

Seven Doors is a puzzle game that challenges players to navigate their way through several unique challenges. Each room challenges players in a different way and the developers have come up with plenty of unique scenarios. There isn’t really an over-arching story to tie everything together and the game is also quite short, but it’s an enjoyable experience while it lasts.

Gameplay: Seven Doors will challenge your problem-solving skills in several unique ways.

Graphics: Not cutting-edge, but impressive enough for a small studio.

Sound: Very good

LUNA The Shadow Dust

Help a young boy and his cute cat-like companion reach the top of a mysterious tower in this beautiful point & click adventure by Lantern Studio. Luna The Shadow Dust features gorgeous hand-drawn artwork and a beautiful soundtrack to complement the brainteasers. It’s not a very lengthy game, but controlling two different characters makes for enjoyable puzzle solving. The lack of dialog and inventory may disappoint fans of more traditional point & click adventures, everyone else will have fun with this title.

Gameplay: Tricky in spots, but nothing that can’t be solved by paying attention to your surroundings.

Graphics: The hand-drawn visual style of the game is simply beautiful.

Sound: No voice-acting, but the soundtrack is excellent

Moons of Madness

Moons of Madness is a story-driven horror title where players control an engineer fighting for his life and sanity on Mars. After what was supposed to be a fairly routine mission goes horribly wrong, you are left trying to salvage the situation as the odds continue to mount against you. Although this game focuses very much on the story, it also features some nice puzzles, and the threat of death will keep you on your toes.

Gameplay: Moons of Madness is more than just a walking simulator, thanks to some decent puzzles.

Graphics: The game features plenty of lovely visual details.

Sound: It has a decent soundtrack, but the voice acting stands out

Untitled Goose Game

Untitled Goose Game allows players to waddle around as a large goose who is on a mission to annoy everyone as much as possible. It’s a charming and whimsical game that had us laughing out loud at times. Some of the objectives are more amusing than others, but each new area we unlocked was a treat to explore and trash. Unfortunately, with only four main areas and a short final location, the game can be completed in a matter of hours. There’s some extra fun to be had with the new, harder objectives you are given, but these are still restricted to the old locations. Nevertheless, if you are looking for a lighthearted game or want a stealth puzzler without the usual blood and violence, then Untitled Goose Game is a good choice.

Gameplay: Unique and entertaining, but very short.

Graphics: Very charming and colorful.

Sound: The piano-based soundtrack is a good match for the style of the game

Peggle™ Nights

While this is basically just a glorified expansion and not a full-blown sequel, it’s hard to argue with the at 60 more Peggle levels. The new master is pretty cool, and the new levels are nice but try and get it as a combo pack with the original Peggle if you want value for money.

Gameplay: Exactly the same as the original game with just one new master.
Graphics: Very nice hand-drawn artwork.
Sound: Sounds virtually the same as the first game
