Zoo Keeper

Zoo Keeper

If you enjoy puzzle games that requires a keen eye and quick reflexes then give Zoo Keeper a try. It’s not going to win any awards for the visuals and sounds but the gameplay is addictive enough to warrant a purchase. The stylus controls fit the game perfectly and you’ll be surprised by how quickly you can get sucked in.

Gameplay: Simple but very addictive. Works well with the touch screen too.

Graphics: Extremely basic but cute and colorful.

Sound: Too annoying and repetitive

Kirby: Power Paintbrush

Kirby: Power Paintbrush

With so many DS titles feeling like rehashed Gameboy Advance games it is great to see this ones like this finally start to emerge. It uses the same formula first seen in Yoshi Touch N Go but evolves it into a full fledged game. It comes highly recommended to all platform fans.

Gameplay: Full stylus control throughout makes for an interesting challenge.

Graphics: Very nice 2D visuals.

Sound: Cheerful and uplifting

Lumines

Lumines

At first it seems so simple you’ll wonder what all the fuss was about but once you get hooked there’s no turning back. Lumines might not look like much more than a Tetris rip-off but this is definitely one of the PSP’s most addictive games. This is one of those games that you will find yourself returning to.

Gameplay: Horribly addictive.

Graphics: Looks great on the PSP screen.

Sound: An essential part of the experience

Pac ‘N Roll

Pac ‘N Roll

Pac N Roll is not a game that is going to set your world on fire and astound you with its innovative new concepts but it is fun while it lasts. The controls work well and the levels become quite challenging later on. Repetition does start to creep in after a while so you might want to try before you buy.

Gameplay: An interesting take on the genre.

Graphics: Bold and cheerful.

Sound: Apart from the horrible voice samples not too bad

Yoshi Touch & Go

Yoshi Touch & Go

As launch titles go Yoshi Touch N Go does a good job of showing off the new features that the DS sports but overall it never feels like it is more than two mini-games. It is definitely fun while it lasts but once you’ve broken the high-scores and played it a few times you’ll find how limited it is.

Gameplay: Addictive but the novelty wears off very quickly.

Graphics: Bright, clear and very colorful.

Sound: Some very “tropical” sounding tunes

Zuma Deluxe

Zuma Deluxe

Someone that has never played a version of this game using a computer mouse would probably enjoy it more but it is definitely not a bad game. The gameplay is very addictive and there are more than enough levels to keep you playing for a long time. Checking out the demo first is highly recommended however.

Gameplay: Would have been better if the controls were more precise.

Graphics: Nice but nothing special.

Sound: Catchy tunes that will stick in your head

Every Extend Extra

Every Extend Extra

Every Extend Extra is a unique title, but it is not going to appeal to everyone. Fortunately, there is a free version available for computer which will give you a good indication of what to expect. If you like arcade shooters with a bit of a puzzle element, then you will appreciate what this game has to offer.

Gameplay: Fast and frantic, but won’t appeal to everyone.

Graphics: Very psychedelic.

Sound: Integrated well with the gameplay

Meteos

Meteos

At first Meteos seem to be much too simple, especially considering how crowded the falling block puzzle genre is, but one only has to play it for a few hours to discover how deep and addictive it really is. Definitely another essential DS puzzler.

Gameplay: Extremely simple but very addictive.

Graphics: Nothing special but still looks good.

Sound: Q Entertainment knows how to craft some catchy tunes

Concrete Jungle

Concrete Jungle

Concrete Jungle offers an interesting mix of genres that all combine to provide a compelling gameplay experience that is also much more challenging than you would think. In the versus modes, city planning turns into a vicious game of sabotage and dirty tricks, while the solo mode requires players to think ahead in order to survive. Multi-player is, unfortunately, local only, but even so, this game will keep players busy for ages.

Gameplay: The game is very addictive and genuinely a joy to play despite sometimes being as hard as nails.

Graphics: When zoomed in, the visuals look fuzzy, but overall, the amount of detail and variety is top-notch.

Sound: Great tunes and some surprisingly good voice acting

Chuck’s Challenge 3D
