The phrase “anti-gravity racing” might be synonymous with the Wipeout series, but the demise of Studio Liverpool (Psygnosis) left a void in the market. Surprisingly enough, no developers seemed very eager to pick up the gauntlet until Tammeka Games revealed Radial-G: Racing Revolved. There are some very talented and experienced individuals behind this title, so we jumped at the chance to check out the Early Access version of the game
Believe it or not, the original Carmageddon was released more than 18 years ago already! However, it only took me a few minutes after booting up Reincarnation to realize that Stainless Games Ltd has nailed the feel of the game. Anyone who can remember gleefully plowing through throngs of pedestrians while smashing rival racers to bits will find that Carmageddon: Reincarnation offers the same level of vehicular carnage
It is hard not to crack a smile while knocking old people off their mobility scooters as you dodge U.F.Os and zombies in a bright, cartoony setting. It sounds horrifying, I know, but then again Coffin Dodgers is a game that doesn’t take itself very seriously. This kart racer is currently available on Steam Early Access and pits seven retirement village residents in a race to the death against the Grim Reaper himself
Hot on the heels of unveiling their license agreement with Lamborghini Automobili, Kunos Simulazioni is now teasing the release of the first DLC pack for Assetto Corsa. Called the “Dream Pack” Vol. 1, it will feature the legendary circuit of Nordschleife. The German track is officially licensed and will be reproduced using laserscan technology for unparalleled accuracy. Of course the pack will also feature some new car models, chosen from dream cars voted by gamers in 2014
Some good news for Lamborghini Automobili fans as KUNOS Simulazioni recently announced a new licensing agreement with this prestigious Italian car manufacturer. This means that Assetto Corsa players can look forward to seeing some of the iconic car models from this brand soon appearing in the game. Assetto Corsa already features a great selection of vehicles from the likes of Toyota, Nissan, Alfa Romeo, Ford and Audi and the Lamborghini roster is sure to have the same attention to detail
Action Henk from RageSquid continues its speedy progress towards completion and has recently receive another big update. The latest patch introduced a new disco-themed environment along with some new levels. You’ll also have the opportunity to race against Henk’s sensei, Neil, who can be unlocked as a playable character if you manage to beat him.
Another big new addition to the game is the much anticipated level editor. With integrated Steam Workshop support it is easy to create, share and play community levels. It is obviously still in an early access state, but very easy to use. Check out the full list of changes that comes with this update below
I still have fond memories of epic LAN games involving FlatOut and its sequel so when Bugbear announced their intentions for a new car game it was hard not to get excited. A failed Kickstarter did nothing to diminish their passion to deliver an uncompromising racing game with sophisticated physics and damage modeling and the game is now available on Steam Early Access
Top down shooters such as Wasteland Angel offers a nice quick burst of arcade action but tend to suffer from being repetitive. The idea behind this game is nice enough but the small arenas that force you to stick close to the towns that you have to protect all feel too similar The lack of enemy variety doesn’t do this game any favours either.
Gameplay: Mindless fun but soon becomes repetitive.
Graphics: The overhead visuals are not too bad but it doesn’t hold up so well in first person.
Sound: The voice acting is decent enough but the rest is nothing special
Awesome graphics if you have the hardware to run it and some challenging gameplay makes this one a winner if you are a rally fan. While Colin McRae still beats it when it comes to pure entertainment but if you are a rally purist then get this.
Gameplay: Good but not for the easily bored.
Graphics: Great looking cars and tracks.
Zombie Driver is a nicely retro flavored indie arcade title that is a blast to play. It might not last for very long but with the promised updates and low price it is well worth the effort. This is definitely a game for all those people that had more fun in the original Grand Theft Auto, running over pedestrians and driving like a maniac, than actually getting out of the car and doing missions.
Gameplay: Driving over zombies is fun.
Graphics: Retro style greatness.
Sound: Splattering zombies sounds just like it should
