Papers, Please

Papers, Please

Papers, Please is one of those titles that you have to play in order to truly appreciate. It is hard to try to explain the concept to someone else without making it sound dull, but believe us, the game will suck you in. With some thought-provoking moral dilemmas and multiple endings, you might find yourself coming back to this one again and again.

Gameplay: Papers, Please, is a truly unique and engaging experience.

Graphics: The unique visual style matches the mood and setting of the game perfectly.

Sound: The audio for the game is very sparse but quite fitting

Goat Simulator

Goat Simulator

Goat Simulator might be a joke, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t a lot of fun. There is a surprising amount of things to do considering the small playing area and tons of secrets to discover. If you like messing around in a sandbox environment you will get your moneys’ worth out of this game, but it remains to be seen how much Steam Workshop content will be released to increase the longevity.

Gameplay: Buggy, glitchy and lots of fun while it lasts.

Graphics: Nice visuals, but intentionally bad animations.

Sound: Decent sound effects and one extremely catchy tune

Loot Hound™

Loot Hound™

Loot Hound allows you to unleash your dog on different parks in an effort to find the most epic loot. It is a very simple game, but quite addictive and very humorous. The challenge level is quite low, but the abundance of levels and loot increases the replay value. As far as casual games goes, this one is relaxing and entertaining, which makes it easy to recommend.

Gameplay: Not very challenging, but quirky and addictive enough to keep you playing.

Graphics: Fairly basic, but quite charming.

Sound: Great ambient sound effects and a very humorous narrator

Biggest Update So Far Released For SPINTIRES™

Biggest Update So Far Released For SPINTIRES™

Spintires impressed us last year with its big trucks and realistic mud, but long after most developers have moved on to new projects Oovee® Game Studios are still releasing updates. This is great news for fans as the latest update is the biggest one yet. The update, which is free to all owners of the game, includes a host of new trucks as well as animations for the driver behind the wheel of these Soviet workhorses. In addition, the game is also now available as part of the Humble Jumbo Bundle, making it the ideal time to snap it up for a bargain

All Guns On Deck (Decaying Logic)

All Guns On Deck (Decaying Logic)

Seemingly satisfied with dominating the jigsaw puzzle genre on Steam, Decaying Logic has turned their attention naval combat. Well, strategy, real time tactics, action RPG, and naval combat to be exact. Combining all these genres into something that not only works, but is actually fun to play is quite a task, which is why the developers opted for Early Access to ensure everything is done right

Redshirt

Redshirt

Redshirt is not a game for people that want to jump in and be impressed right away. It takes a while to get used to the interface and what the game expects of you, but once you are hooked it is easy to lose hours. There is a lot of replay value here, but it can feel like a repetitive grind at times. Don’t be fooled by the visuals either as this game requires a lot of strategic planning if you want to survive the perils of being a redshirt.

Gameplay: Keeping track of everything can feel like spinning plates at times.

Graphics: Functional and streamlined.

Sound: Dramatic music and fitting sound effects

Fate Tectonics

Fate Tectonics

Fate Tectonics challenges you to assemble a thriving world, one tile at a time, but with a whole pantheon of angry fates breathing down your neck. Fail to appease them all and you might see all your hard work undone, but if you manage the juggling act your world will thrive. With its charming pixel art visuals and epic 16-bit soundtrack, Fate Tectonics is a game not to be missed. It is accessible enough to start playing in minutes, but making progress requires some real strategic thinking.

Graphics: The pixel art visuals look great and are friendly towards players with color blindness.

Sound: The dynamic 16-bit soundtrack is a great match for the visual style of the game.

Gameplay: Easy to pick up and play, but very addictive and tricky to master, Fate Tectonics can keep you hooked for ages

SPINTIRES™

SPINTIRES™

Spintires doesn’t offer a compelling story or over the top action, but if you can appreciate a challenging game with a slower pace you will have fun. Navigating muddy terrain using enormous trucks is certainly an unique experience and while there is only one objective the true joy comes simply from playing with big trucks in the realistic mud.

Gameplay: Slow paced and intense, but very enjoyable and satisfying.

Graphics: Large maps and very detailed vehicles.

Sound: Very peaceful

Rage Runner

Rage Runner

Rage Runner is quite a challenging title and, as the name implies, it can be frustrating at times. Having to weave your way through obstacles at high speeds while changing the orientation of your craft takes some practice and completing all nine of the levels is quite an achievement. If you are looking for a 3D runner that will really test your skills you should try Rage Runner.

Gameplay: Quick reflexes and some trial-and-error is required, but overall this is an addictive and challenging title.

Graphics: Good, but not too distracting.

Sound: Depends on whether you like dubstep or not

Valhalla Hills (Funatics Software)

Valhalla Hills (Funatics Software)

Vikings are normally associated with fighting, pillaging and sailing, but Valhalla Hills from Funatics Software drops these Germanic Norse seafarers in a city building setting instead. In place of raiding and trading, the Vikings are trying to get into Valhalla after Odin decided to close the gates. The Norse god was clearly in a bit of a bad mood as he also exiled his son Leko for being more interested in building than the family business of battles and booze. This is good news for the Vikings though, as with the help of Leko they might attain enough honor to get to Valhalla
