Crest (Eat Create Sleep)

Crest (Eat Create Sleep)

Mention the words “god game” and chances are players will immediately think about either Populous or Black & White. There have been others of course, but these two titles exemplify what people typically expect of the genre. It is also a very niche genre, but now developers, Eat Create Sleep, have stepped up with their take on things. Their credentials include the free ecosystem simulator, Among Ripples, which is also a very unique title, but Crest raises the stakes by putting you in charge of guiding humanity

Fortresscraft Evolved has no shortage of players vying to outdo each other when it comes to creativity and ingenuity, but now three gamers are taking things to a whole new level. The three players joining forces, “ButcherBoyToma”, “GadgetGaz” and “CyberSclumpf” are no strangers to the game and have already wowed other players with their creations. Their plan this time around is to create one of the largest voxel builds that have ever been attempted and judging by their videos they are already off to a great start

New Content Added To Nightbanes Thanks To Free Update

A bit of good news for fans of the free to play collectible card game, Nightbanes, from Diviad and Headup Games. The game made its Steam debut a while back and impressed us with its great card artwork as well as fast paced, but strategic gameplay. Today the developers unveiled an update for the game which features plenty of brand new content

Pixel Puzzles 2: Anime

Pixel Puzzles 2: Anime

Pixel Puzzles 2: Anime packs the same innovations introduced by the previous entry in the series, such as rotating puzzle pieces and a sorting tray, but with a brand new theme. The anime illustrations are not only beautiful and colorful, but also a lot of fun to assemble which makes for an addictive experience. The annoying little crabs are also gone, but have been replaced by an equally annoying Pixel Fairy.

Gameplay: Challenging and very addictive.

Graphics: The new anime themed illustrations are beautiful.

Sounds: The music is nice and mellow, but the fairy can become very annoying.

Poöf

Poöf

Poof VS The Cursed Kitty is one of those games that start of relatively simple and before you know it you are fighting for your life. The arcade style gameplay shows no mercy and finishing the game is not for the faint of heart. While it requires quick reflexes and lots of luck the addictive gameplay will ensure that you keep coming back for more.

Gameplay: Very hard but very rewarding.

Graphics: Colorful and cartoony Flash style visuals.

Sound: Fits the frenetic pace of the game

Don’t Shoot Yourself!

Don’t Shoot Yourself!

Don’t Shoot Yourself bills itself as a puzzle shmup, which is quite accurate as the focus is on carefully maneuvering your spaceship around different arenas while avoiding your own bullets. There are no enemies to defeat or power-ups to collect, but don’t think that this makes things any easier. Each arena offers a new challenge thanks to its size, shape and type of walls, which makes the game challenging and entertaining from start to finish.

Gameplay: Easy to play, but tricky to master.

Graphics: Simple, but colorful and unique.

Sound: Some nice background tunes

Not The Robots

Not The Robots

I wasn’t sure if Not The Robots would live up to its wacky concept but it turned out to be much more addictive than I anticipated. Clearing out a level without taking damage is a rush and the stealth mechanics make for plenty of tense moments. It is not the easiest of games and it has to be completed in one sitting as there is no save feature but trust me it is worth it.

Gameplay: Eating furniture has never been this much fun!

Graphics: Nothing spectacular but gets the job done.

Sound: Good tunes and solid sound effects

Nightbanes

Nightbanes

Nightbanes features a great setting, superlative card artwork and rules that are easy to understand. There is more than enough variety when it comes to cards to keep things interesting and the multitude of play modes are also a bonus. Best of all, the game is completely free to play, so there is no excuse not to give it a chance. You can drop some cash to purchase booster packs or cards, but with enough time and dedication you can still have plenty of fun without spending a cent.

Gameplay: Very easy to learn and also extremely addictive.

Graphics: The superlative card art is varied and very detailed.

Sound: Atmospheric music and great sound effects

Spirit of War

Spirit of War

Turn-based strategy titles that are based on the First World War aren’t exactly known for their accessibility, especially when there are hexes involved, but Spirit of War manages to buck this trend. It has a wealth of units, plenty of maps and the skirmishes are quite addictive. Thanks to the lengthy solo campaign as well as the inclusion of hotseat multiplayer the game definitely provides value for money. There are a couple of niggles that prevent it from scoring higher, but overall I really enjoyed this title.

Gameplay: A nice selection of different units and gameplay that is very accessible to newcomers.

Graphics: Nothing too extravagant, but still has plenty of neat touches.

Sound: Unobtrusive music and decent sound effects.

Trouble With Robots

Trouble With Robots

Although originally a PC title, Trouble With Robots is a game that feels much more at home on a mobile device and the bite size levels make it great for playing on the go. The visuals have been given a complete overhaul and the gameplay is still as addictive as ever. Don’t let the whimsical story and cute visuals fool you either, the game features plenty of strategy to sink your teeth into and comes highly recommended.

Gameplay: Easy to play, but features plenty of strategic depth.

Graphics: Beautiful and detailed artwork that looks great on high definition tablets.

Sound: No speech, but the background tunes are good
