Vote for Don’t Be Patchman On Steam Greenlight

After receiving an email from Naturally Intelligent urging me to not be a Patchman, I had no choice but to check out why this character has such a bad rep. It turns out that Patchman used his celebrity status to help a drone army enslave the Sheeple, normally happy folk who used to live in harmony with nature. Through a bizarre series of events, Patchman dies after eating a vending machine, but is brought back to life by a kind old granny who sewed him back together. Now it will be up to you to help Patchman redeem himself and rescue the Sheeple from the Drone army.

Since we haven’t had any hands-on time with the game yet, it is a bit hard to discern what exactly is going on. According to the developers you will have to wear disguises while staying out of sight as you go about awakening the Sheeple. Finding seeds, growing fruits and plants, and tearing down propaganda posters will also factor into the equation. Your robotic opponents will be formidable, but can apparently be thwarted through the use of plants. It seems that Patchman gains abilities from eating plants and the drones all have weaknesses to specific ones. The game will require timing, patience and reflexes to master, so don’t be fooled by the beautiful pixel art visuals into thinking that it is going to be easy.

The Kickstarter trailer below uses real gameplay footage to provide an overview of the game and while we are not sure what half of the stuff happening is all about, it certainly looks very interesting. One thing is for sure, Don’t Be Patchman looks like a game that is playing by its own rules instead of sticking to a well-worn template and that is reason enough for us to look forward to its release. Check out the Don’t Be Patchman Kickstarter page if you want to back this unique game and don’t forget to swing by the Steam Greenlight page too in order to cast a vote.
