From Donkey Kong to AiAi in Super Monkey Ball and Specter in Ape Escape, there’s no shortage of primates in video games. Soon there will be one more added to that list with Mac Biskwi by Digital Fox appearing in his own platform game later this year. Titled Mac Biskwi Adventures, this 2D platformer sees the little monkey living in the peaceful “Biscuits Island” until the arrival of evil creatures. Players will have to help Mac Biskwi to traverse colorful levels while defeating unique enemies and engaging in the age-old platform tradition of collecting things.

Mac Biskwi Adventures is set to release in December of this year, but the Steam Store page is already up, so be sure to wishlist it if you are a fan of the genre. Check out our First Look video of the game where we tried out the demo version of Mac Biskwi Adventures and had a blast putting it through its paces. The most astonishing part of the game is that it is the work of only three people. According to Digital Fox one person created the music, one worked on the visuals and one more did everything else from game design, to level design, programming, and more, which is impressive, to say the least!

Our time with the demo made it very clear that Digital Fox is very passionate about Mac Biskwi Adventures and poured a lot of effort into it. It is a game that wears its influences on its sleeves and it will definitely put a smile on the faces of everyone who loves titles such as Donkey Kong Country, Super Adventure Island, Sonic the Hedgehog, and other platform classics. Check out the trailer for Mac Biskwi Adventures below and be sure to stay up to date on its progress using the links to the left. We also recommend wishlisting the game on Steam to avoid missing out when it is released.

Usually all it takes to get our attention are the words “shoot ‘em up,” but Xenoraid from 10tons Ltd looks like it will be of special interest. The game is a vertically scrolling shooter with a small dash of bullet hell, but don’t expect to memorize your way out of harm’s way with this one. 10tons has revealed that missions will be procedurally driven based on set parameters, which means enemy formations and attack directions will be different each time.

Prismata by Lunarch Studios

Currently powering its way to success on Kickstarter is Prismata from Lunarch Studios. It is a hybrid strategy title that fuses elements of collectible card games, tabletop strategy as well as elements of real-time strategy games. However, by focusing on easy to learn gameplay and fast paced matches the game aims to be more accessible than the genres from which it draws its inspiration. This doesn’t mean that the game is lacking in depth though as it has plenty of features that will appeal to players who love strategy titles.

Lode Runner Legacy (Tozai Games, Inc.)

From Donkey Kong and Dig Dug to Gauntlet and Gradius, the 1980s were a golden era for classic video-game franchises. One of these franchises is Lode Runner, which was first released for the Apple II in 1983 and quickly moved on to other platforms. Its action-packed, yet puzzle-oriented gameplay made it an instant hit and even people like Alexey Pajitnov counted it amongst their favorite puzzle titles. Although there hasn’t been a shortage of new releases over the years, the last appearance of Lode Runner was back in 2012 on Android and iOS. Thankfully, this is about to change with the upcoming release of Lode Runner Legacy for PC.

The name is a tongue twister but the gameplay reminds me of Toki so that’s an automatic wishlist. Why are all the enemies so cute tho?
