Fort Meow

Fort Meow

Adorable cats and addictive physics-based puzzle adventuring is a winning combination and ensures that Fort Meow will keep players hooked to the end. Building pillow forts out of all kinds of odds and ends is a blast, and the physics-based gameplay keeps things interesting. While initially a little short for our liking, the free Challenge Mode added after release offers a great excuse to keep playing after completing the campaign.

Gameplay: Very addictive and features enough items to keep the fort building interesting.

Graphics: The adorable children’s book style visuals look great.

Sound: Some very catchy tunes to accompany the wacky action

Shattered Planet

Shattered Planet

Shattered Planet is one of those games that are impossible to play only once. It is so addictive that I found myself returning to it again and again even after getting my character killed in a myriad of ways. Between the daily challenges and endless mode there is enough content here to keep players hooked for a very, very long time. This is not a game to start playing if you value your free time!

Gameplay: Simple to play, but highly addictive.

Graphics: Bold, colorful and features tons of item designs.

Sound: Mostly tranquil, but speeds up when there is action

Whispering Willows

Whispering Willows

Whispering Willows is not a game that will keep you on the edge of your seat from excitement, but the slower pace and interesting story make for an engaging experience. Unraveling the mysteries of Willows Mansion and communicating with the lost souls is a unique experience that kept us hooked from start to finish. If you demand quick reflexes or mind-bending puzzles to be entertained, the game may feel boring to you. Still, if you can appreciate a slower-paced, engaging experience, this is a great title to add to your collection.

Gameplay: The game is slow-paced but very engaging.

Graphics: Whispering Willows features beautiful artwork for the characters and backgrounds.

Sound: The soundtrack is very atmospheric, and the sound effects are excellent

SteamWorld Dig

SteamWorld Dig

SteamWorld Dig makes the transition from 3DS to PC flawlessly and loses none of its addictive charm along the way. Carving out your own mining tunnels while avoiding or killing the enemies is loads of fun, and there is always one more upgrade or power to tempt you back.

Gameplay: SteamWorld Dig is polished, entertaining, and incredibly addictive.

Graphics: The visuals consist of charming high-definition 2D graphics.

Sound: The game features some western-flavored tunes and spot-on sound effects

Steamworld Heist Didn’t Always Have A Female Protagonist

Steamworld Heist Didn’t Always Have A Female Protagonist

During a recent community Q & A by the graphics team from Image & Form, they revealed some interesting insights about the art for the upcoming SteamWorld Heist. The most surprising bit of information is that Captain Piper Faraday, the protagonist of the game, started out as a male hero. Development of the game started back in early 2014, so it is no surprise that changes were made along the way and we definitely prefer the current look of Piper

Zoo Landing

Zoo Landing

With its funky pixel art visuals and simple, but addictive gameplay Zoo Landing is a great time killer. The game is simple enough that anyone can pick it up and start playing immediately, but challenging enough that it takes plenty of practice to reach a high score. Best of all, it’s free and the micro-transactions are restricted to removing the adverts or purchasing additional characters.

Gameplay: Simple, fun and quite addictive.

Graphics: Detailed and colorful pixel art visuals.

Sound: Well suited for a mobile title

Punch Club (Lazy Bear Games)

Punch Club (Lazy Bear Games)

The hero of Punch Club, an upcoming game by Lazy Bear Games, has a dream. It involves training to become a boxer and also finding out who it was that killed his father. To help him achieve this dream you have to step in and manage his daily life, similar to the tycoon games of the 80s and 90s. From training him to upgrade his skills, to selecting his fighting styles during fights, everything is in your hands

Ten Questions With… Marco Mantoan (Picaresque Studio)

Ten Questions With… Marco Mantoan (Picaresque Studio)

We were very impressed by the gameplay trailer that Picaresque Studio unveiled for their upcoming title, Nantucket, and clearly we were not the only ones. The game managed to get Greenlit in record time, which means the Steam community is just as eager to get their hands on this Herman Melville influenced title. To find out more about the game we got in touch with Marco Mantoan

The Shockwave Bundle By Bundle Stars

The Shockwave Bundle By Bundle Stars

Bundle Stars deliver once again with a great bundle at a great price. All but two of the ten games in the bundle appeared in other bundles already, but anyone who missed out will find it hard to argue with the 96% saving offered here. Drakensang and Smugglers 5: Invasion will more than likely keep players busy the longest, but overall there is something for everyone in this bundle

Arcana Heart

Arcana Heart

A 2D fighter with an all female cast places Arcana Heart in a somewhat niche genre but don’t let that deter you. Beneath the cute visuals lies a good fighting game that should appeal to anime and fighting fans. The mixing and matching of Arcana and characters also set the game apart.

Gameplay: Nothing groundbreaking, but still fun.

Graphics: An interesting cast of characters.

Sound: Better than I expected
