Dead as Disco’s Dahlia Update Adds a New Idol, Five Songs and More

Brain Jar Games has released the biggest Dead as Disco Early Access update so far, bringing former bandmate Dahlia into the spotlight as a new Idol boss. The studio says its rhythm-driven brawler has now passed half a million players, giving the new content a sizeable audience to dance with.

The update adds a full story level set in The Nightshade, a club that doubles as a botanical garden. Dahlia, the band’s former pianist and dancer, faces Charlie Disco in a multi-stage fight that shifts from lush greenery to fire and ash as she reveals her Death Form. Beating her unlocks a new skill tree, including Phantom Dance, an empowered dodge that leaves a damaging Pyroette behind.

Dahlia is joined by the Flamecho, a new enemy that rains fire on the arena before charging in. The Burn status effect deals damage in time with the music, adding another hazard to a game where every punch, dodge and combo is designed to land on the beat.

There is plenty more beyond the boss fight. Players get two new arenas, The Nightshade and Obsidian Overture, along with eight Challenges, new abilities, cosmetics, dance moves and additions to Infinite Disco. The update also brings five songs, including two versions of Dahlia’s signature track, “La Pantera,” and adds new quests and dialogue at The Encore.

Earlier Early Access updates have expanded the game’s custom music tools, added automatic BPM detection to Infinite Disco and introduced achievements on Steam and the Epic Games Store. The Dahlia release continues that steady stream of content while giving Charlie another former bandmate to confront. Brain Jar Games says Dead as Disco has also been nominated for Best Early Access Game at the 2026 Golden Joystick Awards.

The Dahlia update is available now for Dead as Disco on PC. You can watch the new Idol trailer below or find the game on Steam.
