Gladio Mori Leaves Early Access September 16 With Cross-Platform Gladiator Combat
Gladio Mori, the physics-driven gladiator fighting game from solo developer Plebeian Studio, will leave Steam Early Access and launch in full on September 16, 2026. The 1.0 release will arrive simultaneously on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with cross-platform multiplayer connecting all three versions.
There are no conventional health bars in Gladio Mori. Every strike damages the part of the body it actually hits, allowing players to injure muscles, sever arteries, pierce vital organs or remove limbs entirely. Losing an arm also means losing whatever it was holding, while a carefully placed thrust can bring a fight to an immediate end.
Armour follows the same physically grounded approach. Plate can stop the edge of a weapon rather than merely subtracting a fixed amount of damage, forcing opponents to search for gaps and exposed areas instead of repeatedly swinging at the same protected target.
The combat system becomes stranger still once players begin creating their own attacks. Gladio Mori includes a move editor that provides direct control over a gladiator’s body, allowing a swing to be constructed frame by frame before being tested in the arena. More practical fighters can assemble an efficient personal style, while anyone less concerned with survival can discover exactly why spinning wildly with a sword is not always a sound tactical decision.
Players who do not want to animate attacks from scratch can draw from a gallery of community-created movesets. Individual moves can be mixed together, and those built during Early Access will carry across to the finished release.
Online arenas support up to four players, while a solo campaign provides somewhere to practice without immediately being dismantled by another human. The full crossplay system means PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players will be able to enter the same matches from launch.
Gladio Mori first entered Steam Early Access on November 26, 2024 with its move editor, organ-based damage, user-created skins, 17 weapon sets, ten armour elements and two arenas already in place. Since then, its community has produced thousands of custom movesets while Plebeian Studio has continued expanding the underlying game.
That community response has been encouraging for a first release developed by a one-person Finnish studio. At the time of writing, Gladio Mori carries a Very Positive rating on Steam, with 82% of more than 1,100 user reviews recommending it.
The September launch therefore represents more than a routine version-number change. It brings a highly unusual Early Access fighting game to consoles, preserves its community-made creations and opens its arenas across all three platforms through crossplay.
Gladio Mori launches in full on September 16, 2026 for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Additional information is available from Plebeian Studio.
