Poker Night At The Inventory Adds Four New Tables And Stank Mode

Skunkape Games has dealt Poker Night at the Inventory a fresh hand with its version 1.5.0 update. Released on October 1 for Steam, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, the update adds four unlockable poker tables and a new Stank Mode for players who miss the original game’s dingier atmosphere.

The new tables are unlocked by winning tournaments, with each drawing inspiration from one of the game’s familiar opponents. Toys of Power takes its cue from Max’s psychic abilities interface in Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse, while Parsnips A-Plenty pays tribute to the old-timey Homestar Runner short of the same name.

Penny Arcade fans get Gabe’s Shirt XXXL, featuring a table-sized version of Gabe’s yellow shirt and retro shading on Tycho. Rounding out the additions is Mann vs. Machine, which gives the Heavy a robotic skin inspired by Team Fortress 2’s cooperative mode.

Stank Mode is Skunkape’s response to players who felt the remaster’s upgraded lighting and effects had made the Inventory a little too clean. The optional setting applies a grimier look, with less vibrant colours and a smokier atmosphere. Players can switch it on in the settings menu if they prefer a poker room that looks a little more lived-in.

Originally released by Telltale in 2010 and removed from sale in 2019, Poker Night at the Inventory returned earlier this year in a remaster from Skunkape, a team that includes developers who worked on the original. The comedy poker game pits players against Max, Strong Bad, Tycho and the Heavy in Texas hold’em tournaments accompanied by plenty of trash talk.

The update also coincides with the arrival of the Looks Like We’re Gonna Have to Jump! bundle on Steam. It pairs Poker Night at the Inventory with Dangeresque: The Roomisode Triungulate, a trio of bite-sized point-and-click adventures starring Strong Bad’s sunglasses-wearing detective alter ego.

Poker Night at the Inventory is available on Steam, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. You can watch the official trailer below.
