T.E.C. 3001

T.E.C. 3001

T.E.C 3001 is a game where you learn the ropes within a few levels but can spend hours perfecting the moves. The game’s speed is exhilarating, and while there is some trial-and-error involved, it is also very addictive. If you are looking for a game where you can just jump in and get the adrenaline flowing without bothering with storylines or cut scenes, then T.E.C 3001 is a great option, especially for its price.

Gameplay: The game is a fast-paced and challenging runner that can become quite addictive.

Graphics: The visuals are simple but striking without interfering with the gameplay.

Sound: The audio features some fitting tracks and sound effects, but nothing really memorable

Velocity®Ultra

Velocity®Ultra

Velocity Ultra doesn’t exactly excel in the visual department, but it more than makes up for it with the addictive gameplay. At first glance it looks like a pure vertical shooter, but later levels introduce some nice puzzle elements. With fifty standard levels and plenty of unlockable challenges the game offers more than enough value for money.

Gameplay: Blends classic shooting with some modern puzzle solving.

Graphics: Functional but nothing outstanding.

Sound: Some nice old school style tunes

Fragger

Fragger

The Angry Birds series might be the undisputed king of the genre, but don’t write off games like Fragger. The simple idea of lobbing ideas at bad guys to blow them up soon becomes very addictive as you have to aim precisely and figure out the steps to make the most of your limited arsenal. Very entertaining and a great time waster.

Gameplay: Addictive but the controls can be a bit fiddly.

Graphics: Simple but clear and colorful.

Sound: Does the job

Wooden Sen’SeY

Wooden Sen’SeY

Wooden Sen’SeY is perfect for gamers looking for an old school platform challenge but prefer modern visuals. With nine unique and varied levels as well as an addictive Time Attack mode, there is a lot to like about Wooden Sen’SeY. It can all be over a bit soon if you rush the game, but completionists will be busy for ages.

Gameplay: Old school platform action at its best.

Graphics: Beautiful and varied.

Sound: Very fitting tunes for each level

Vector

Vector

Vector allows you to experience the thrill of being chased and pulling off some wicked parkour moves without the need to memorize millions of button combinations. Things start off very simple, but the difficulty ramps up quickly and perfecting the levels require patience and practice. This is definitely a game that offers a lot at and at a very reasonable price.

Gameplay: Easy to play but very challenging to master.

Graphics: The game looks good in high resolution, but the animations steal the show.

Sound: The audio is good for getting the adrenaline flowing

Surgeon Simulator 2013

Surgeon Simulator 2013

One thing is for sure, Surgeon Simulator 2013 is not going to appeal to everyone. I had a blast with the unwieldy controls and the accidental mishaps is just as entertaining as finally nailing the surgery. A lot of patience is required if you want to become good at this game, but it is worth the effort.

Gameplay: Either utterly brilliant or utterly frustrating depending on how patient you are.

Graphics: Good in a gory and darkly humorous way.

Sound: Has a nice synth-laden soundtrack

Octodad: Dadliest Catch

Octodad: Dadliest Catch

Octodad is one of those games that I just had to play after hearing about the concept and I can say that I was definitely not disappointed. The game loses some of its momentum towards the end due to forced stealth sections but overall it is a blast to play. Grabbing a few friends and playing the co-op mode where everyone is given a different limb to control is also a definite highlight.

Gameplay: Mix tricky controls with a physics engine and watch the ensuing hilarity.

Graphics: Charming and colorful.

Sound: Pretty good overall

Knightmare Tower

Knightmare Tower

In this entertaining and action-packed game, players must break through ceilings, rescue princesses, and escape boiling lava. The gameplay is polished to a fine sheen and will keep you busy until you have conquered the tower and unlocked every item. The only problem is that afterward, you will be left wanting more.

Gameplay: The game is very accessible and very, very addictive, but the lack of mouse support is puzzling.

Graphics: The visuals are colorful and feature plenty of humorous designs.

Sound: Knightmare Tower boasts an excellent soundtrack by Hyperduck Soundworks

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing

While there is no danger of this game dethroning the Diablo series it is a solid action role playing game set in a unique gameworld. The mixture of steampunk and gothic elements offer some bizarre enemies and interesting locations to explore while the action never lets up. The complete pack also adds some essential DLC for extending the longevity and variety of the game.

Gameplay: Traditional action role playing done right.

Graphics: The visual style is nice and the creature designs superb.

Sound: Great voice acting, meaty sound effects and some nice tunes

Victor Vran

Victor Vran

Victor Vran is the latest contender for the action-RPG crown and actually offers a very enjoyable experience. Visually, it is a little similar to the Van Helsing titles, but thanks to its character customization options feels quite fresh. It also features non-stop action and plenty of challenges, so fans of the genre will really get their money’s worth with this one.

Gameplay: The relentless action can become a little repetitive, but the variety of weapons and powers keeps the combat interesting.

Graphics: The handcrafted levels look really nice and the lighting effects really stand out.

Sound: Good voice acting by some familiar voice actors and a good soundtrack as well
