Shank

Shank

Players must take control of an ex-hitman and go on a blood-fueled rampage against the people who ruined his life. Shank feels like a Robert Rodriguez movie captured in comic book form, but while the violence is impressive, the game can become repetitive. There’s a decent amount of levels and enemies, but boss battles are a let down once their weaknesses become apparent. Fans of hack-and-slash games will enjoy Shank, but it is not quite as memorable as other titles in the genre.

Gameplay: Defeat waves of enemies using melee and ranged attacks while also doing some light platforming on the way to bosses.

Graphics: The comic book art style is eye-catching, and the animations in Shank are really good.

Sound: The music is fitting for the style of the game, and the voice acting is passable

BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites Is A Remastered, High Definition Edition of the Original

BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites Is A Remastered, High Definition Edition of the Original

Originally released in 2011, BloodRayne: Betrayal is a side-scrolling platform game that divided players with its brutal difficulty. Some loved the tough-as-nails challenge, while others appreciated the visuals but found the difficulty too frustrating. Of course, ten years is a long time in the gaming industry, and the game is definitely showing its age at this point. Thankfully, Ziggurat has announced that a remastered, high-definition edition of the game, titled BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bite, will be released this Summer

Furi

Furi

In Furi, the jailer is the key, and killing him will reward you with freedom. Unfortunately, your captors are a weird and violent bunch that will stop at nothing to thwart your escape efforts. Furi is an action-packed game that mixes elements of the hack and slash as well as bullet hell genres in one very challenging explosion of violence. It is frequently frustrating and often feels unfair, but it is gratifying when mastered. Unfortunately, all the things that make it great for some players will also tempt others into snapping their controllers in half.

Gameplay: Furi is very challenging and has frequent difficulty spikes, but it is also rewarding to master.

Graphics: The game features great character designs and some nice retro sci-fi elements.

Sound: The soundtrack is incredible, and the voice acting is very good

Bayonetta

Bayonetta

Bayonetta was already a hit on consoles, but despite the years it took to reach PC, this is by far the best version of the game. It looks great, runs smoothly, and retains all the over-the-top action and excitement. The story is perhaps a bit too convoluted for its own good, but it provides players with plenty of unique enemies to pummel and some hilarious scenes that must be seen to be believed. If you like hack-and-slash games, you can’t go wrong with Bayonetta.

Gameplay: Bayonetta is stylish, over the top, and a lot of fun once you hone your reflexes.

Graphics: This is the best the game has ever looked since its release on consoles.

Sound: Everything from the voice acting to the soundtrack is top-notch
