Teamcrafter Makes Crafting The Main Event In Its New Steam Demo

If crafting the perfect loadout is your favourite part of an RPG, Teamcrafter wants to put that workbench at the centre of the adventure. Teamcraft Studios and publisher Mystic Forge have released a free Steam demo for their crafting roguelite, ahead of its appearance in October’s Steam Next Fest.

Players take on the role of a Craftist, gathering resources across procedurally generated pixel art biomes and turning them into equipment for a party of Adventurers. Instead of personally swinging every sword, your job is to make sure the people heading into battle have the right tools for the task.

That means crafting weapons, armour and other equipment, then combining them with talents and passive items to experiment with different builds. Automatic turn-based battles put those choices to the test, giving you a reason to head back to the workbench and refine your approach when a promising combination falls short.

The studio has a fitting background for a game built around materials and recipes. Its team is behind FFXIV Teamcraft, the community tool used to plan crafting and manage resources in Final Fantasy XIV. Teamcrafter brings that interest in preparation and optimisation into a standalone game, with crafting itself driving your progress.

The full game is set to feature more than 150 pieces of gear, over 40 talents and 50 passive items. Those options should give players plenty of combinations to explore, whether they prefer carefully planning a build or seeing what happens when an unusual piece of equipment joins the mix.

Teamcrafter does not yet have a confirmed release date, but the demo is available now. You can try it and wishlist the full game on Steam. Take a look at the official demo trailer below for a closer look at its crafting and combat.
