Under Canopies Brings Wildlife Photography And Peaceful Survival To Steam This October

Under Canopies will bring its peaceful blend of wildlife photography, crafting and farming to Steam Early Access on 23 October 2026. Developer Novemtails and publisher Assemble Entertainment have released a new trailer for the first-person forest adventure, which gives players a survival experience without combat.

Photography is a central part of exploring its sanctuary. Players can observe animals, seek out new species and fill a wildlife album as they discover the forest. Relationships with its inhabitants develop through feeding and caring for them, gradually earning their trust.

Building a home is another part of life beneath the trees. Gathered materials can be used to construct a cabin, while handmade furniture, decorations and useful objects help turn it into a personal retreat.

Farming and cooking give players more reasons to settle into their surroundings. Crops can be planted and harvested, natural ingredients collected, and more than thirty recipes prepared. Chickens, sheep and bees also form part of the forest’s everyday life.

The latest announcement highlights several changes made since the game was first revealed. Novemtails has expanded the building system, added farming and improved animal behaviour, alongside work on the tutorial and progression. Additional resources and crafting options are intended to give players more to discover during their travels.

The Early Access release will offer exploration, building, crafting, cooking and photography, with further development planned before the full version. Players can watch the new trailer below and wishlist Under Canopies on Steam ahead of its 23 October arrival.
