Universal Tidy Up Takes Household Organisation Into Surreal Spaces On October 19

Solo developer Monu has announced that Universal Tidy Up will launch on Steam on October 19. The first-person puzzle game begins with familiar household organisation before taking its tidy-up tasks into increasingly surreal spaces.

At first, the job sounds straightforward: put cups on shelves, return books to their proper places and restore some order. Then the shelves themselves need putting away. As the game progresses, players are asked to organise stranger objects and work out how they fit into spaces that are anything but ordinary.

Universal Tidy Up features more than 20 handcrafted stages. Each introduces a new set of rules, making figuring out what belongs where part of the puzzle rather than simply following the same routine in a different room.

The Steam description hints at shelves fitting inside larger shelves and stranger belongings passing through impossible spaces. That gradual departure from everyday tidying gives the game a playful twist: the basic goal stays recognisable even as the objects and surroundings become harder to make sense of.

Monu is both developing and publishing the game independently. The release-date announcement is accompanied by a trailer offering a look at its changing environments and organisation puzzles, alongside screenshots of stages including The Sun Field, The Stacks and The Clock Tower.

For players who enjoy putting things in order but want a puzzle game willing to get a little weird, Universal Tidy Up could be one to keep an eye on. It is scheduled to arrive on PC via Steam on October 19, 2026.
