Way of the Hunter 2 Leaves Early Access and Launches on PC and Consoles
After six months in Steam Early Access, Way of the Hunter 2 has reached its full release today, 29 September 2026. Nine Rocks Games’ hunting simulation is now available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with THQ Nordic publishing.
The sequel takes players across two major hunting grounds. New Laurentia offers North American wilderness and wildlife such as moose, elk and bison, while Africa’s Kilimaya Reserve introduces lions, hippos and other species. A smaller Rocky Mountains area houses the Hearth & Hunt headquarters, where players can prepare for expeditions and display their trophies.
Hunting is only part of the work. Players can repair infrastructure, restore habitats, clear pollution and deal with invasive species, with those choices feeding into the condition of local animal populations. There is also a hunting dog that can find animal signs, follow blood trails and track wounded animals. Regular training improves its abilities.
The game supports two-player co-op and offers more than ten real-world hunting equipment partners. Thermal and night-vision gear, suppressors and an updated shot review system give players more ways to plan a hunt and examine its outcome. The latter lets you inspect a bullet’s trajectory and placement after taking a shot.
THQ Nordic is offering a standard edition and a Deluxe Edition that includes the Season One pass. The publisher says eight DLC releases are planned across the first year, adding more locations, wildlife and equipment. Owners of the original Way of the Hunter can also claim a loyalty discount on the same platform and receive the Night Hunting Pack DLC at no extra cost.
Way of the Hunter 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Watch the launch trailer below, or visit the game’s official website for more details.
