We Are So Cooked Delayed to January 2027 as Launch Expands Beyond One Map
We Are So Cooked will no longer launch on October 15, but developer Dwarven Brothers is using the delay to expand the chaotic co-op game beyond its originally planned launch content.
The 1–4-player physics-stealth game is now scheduled to arrive on PC in January 2027. Its first public demo will be available considerably sooner during Steam Next Fest: October 2026, which runs from October 19–26.
Publisher 1312 Interactive says the additional development time will allow several maps to be included when the game launches. The previous plan was to release with one map and add the others through post-launch updates.
The delay is also intended to give Dwarven Brothers more time to polish the experience before players begin making an absolute mess of its hotels and heavily guarded facilities.
We Are So Cooked begins with a rather awkward problem: someone is dead, the players are responsible and the evidence needs to disappear before anyone notices.
The objective sounds simple enough. Players must move the body from its starting location to the exit without being spotted by witnesses or apprehended by security.
Actually accomplishing that task is complicated by the corpse being heavy, floppy and governed by ragdoll physics.
Dragging it alone is slow and leaves a conspicuous blood trail. Recruiting additional players makes transportation faster, but everyone needs to coordinate which way they are moving. A poorly timed turn can leave the body caught on a doorframe, knocking over furniture or sliding off a luggage cart in full view of bystanders.
The surrounding environments introduce problems of their own. Civilians will scream if they see something suspicious, security guards can intervene, cameras monitor key areas and guard dogs provide another reason not to linger.
Players are therefore expected to improvise with whatever they can find.
A wheelchair can make transporting the body through a hotel considerably less conspicuous, while a mop removes incriminating blood trails. Squeaky toys can distract dogs and luggage carts offer another way to move the unfortunate dead weight.
There is an important limitation, however: a character can either hold an item or help drag the body. They cannot do both at once.
That forces the group to divide responsibilities as plans inevitably begin to unravel. Someone may need to clean the floor while other players carry the corpse, with another member scouting ahead or creating a distraction.
Each location is designed around different physics hazards and security threats. Announced examples include luxury hotel lobbies filled with witnesses and tight obstacles, as well as freezing bunkers where armed guards make discovery considerably more dangerous.
The newly promised launch maps should give that structure more variety from the outset. Rather than waiting for post-release updates, players will encounter multiple scenarios and their individual complications in the initial version.
Although the premise revolves around hiding a body, the presentation leans firmly into slapstick rather than horror. Much of the comedy is expected to come from failed coordination, unpredictable physics and carefully arranged plans collapsing in seconds.
The upcoming Next Fest demo will be the first opportunity for the public to determine how well that idea works in practice. It should also provide a useful test of the game’s solo and multiplayer balance before release.
The Steam version supports both online and shared/split-screen co-op. Solo play is possible, although wrestling the body around without help is deliberately more difficult.
Following the PC launch in January, We Are So Cooked is also planned for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at a later date. Specific console release dates have not yet been announced.
We Are So Cooked is being developed by Dwarven Brothers and published by 1312 Interactive. The game can be wishlisted through Steam ahead of its January 2027 PC release, while the public demo will be available from October 19–26, 2026.
