4 Great Reasons To Go To Conventions
The convention is a stalwart of the culture for many people who consider themselves proud nerds, and for many, they are one of the most important parts of the year. There are, of course, many kinds of conventions out there, and which you will go to will depend largely on where exactly your interests lie. Whether you are keen on going to one of the world-famous ones like ComicCon, or whether you have found a smaller, more specific one that appeals to a particular interest of yours, they are always going to be a great way to delve further into your interests. Let’s look at some of the best reasons why you might want to go to conventions.
Spend Time With Like-Minded People
Probably one of the main reasons that you might consider going to a convention is that it is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with other people whom you might consider to be your crowd. It’s always great to get a chance to hang out with those people. Not only is it a genuinely powerful and useful social experience, but it’s also likely to help you feel more involved in that culture that you enjoy so much.
Meet Some Of Your Favorite Stars
Depending on what convention you go to, you might always have the chance to run into one of your favorite stars too. That could be a character from a TV show that you have always identified with, or it might be an author of a comic book series – or many other people besides. At any convention, you might find yourself brushing shoulders with the original Red Power Ranger, Alan Moore, or a whole host of others. This is one of the top reasons to think about going to conventions year after year.
Cosplay
In recent years, cosplay has become one of the bigger aspects of many of these conventions, and that might be another reason why you are particularly interested in attending. If you are keen to dress up yourself, then it is a chance to transform into your favorite character, but if you just want to see what others are wearing it is still a fantastic way to spend your time, and it’s an important part of the whole process too. For many people, the cosplay is the whole point of such a convention.
Panels
If you love to get behind the scenes of how TV shows and movies were made, then conventions are the place to do that – mostly for the panels that you can attend as a normal part of their schedules. On these panels, you will find actors, writers, directors, and other people involved in the creation of some of your favorite TV shows and movies, and they are an opportunity to ask the questions that you have always wanted to ask. You’ll find these panels can be very informative indeed.
As you can see, there is plenty that you can get out of a visit to a convention – so seek one out in the near future.

I’ll never forget my first convention it was a complete adrenaline rush and I was runnnig around like a kid in a candy store trying to see and do as much as possible. My only concern now is if we will ever see the type of huge conventions that we are used to in the future. This virus thing is changing our society and I hope I can still attend conventions in the future and they are not going to turn into some type of livestreamed thing.
