There has been plenty of games set in alternative WW2 realities, but Ironkraft might just be one of the strangest. With Zomies, Nazis and even aliens thrown in for good measure its post-apocalyptic vehicle driven universe certainly sounds like it won’t be boring. The game was Greenlit on Steam in less than eight days back in August and is set for an Early Access release on October 21st 2015.

Invoker Studios describe Ironkraft as a 2.5D side-scrolling car-brawler where humanity has been reduced to isolated colonies. The roads are no longer safe, but drivers, called Roadtraders, are needed to transport the scarce supplies between the remaining cities. The game enables players to step into the boots of a Roadtrader and features six challenging levels to conquer. Players will have their pick of three different cars and each can be equipped with an assortment of weapons, armor, engines as well as other upgrades.

Loot will play a big role in the game, so apart from collecting and selling cargo you will also be able to attack other traders. In addition, there are also some giant bosses to hunt down in exchange for bounties. Each level also comes packed with secret places, such as hidden Nazi bunkers and according to the developers, the game will be filled to the brim with Easter eggs. The physics-based destruction looks like it will be a lot of fun, but the RPG elements, trading system and car crafting will add some depth as well.

Check out the intro video for the game below and feast your eyes on the screenshots before heading to Steam to add it to your wishlist.

With all the great 2D indie platformer titles on the market, it's hard to believe that the genre almost died out with the advent of 3D graphics on consoles. It has also been great to see how different developers have been putting their own spin on the genre. For example, Lone Fungus is a "Mushroom Metroidvania" that is currently in need of backing over on Kickstarter. According to the developer, Basti, Lone Fungus was inspired by new and old classics like Hollow Knight, Super Metroid, Super Castlevania IV, and Megaman X, which was enough to get our attention.

Syndrome (Camel 101)

Looking at the previous releases of developer Camel 101 reveals two things. Firstly, they are definitely not lacking in ambition when it comes to their titles and secondly, they are getting better at what they do with each release. This is very evident in their upcoming release, Syndrome. The game opens with your character waking from cryosleep aboard the exploration and science ship, the Valkenburg. In true survival horror fashion, the shift is drifting through pace with the rest of the crew all dead or insane. You are required to get your bearings, find out what happened and figure out who you can trust.

Compulsion Games Announces We Happy Few

After the release of Contrast way back in 2013, things have been rather quiet from Compulsion Games. The developers have finally broken their silence though to announce their latest title, We Happy Few. Apparently they have been hard at work on the game since early 2014 and judging by the trailer it has been time well spent.
