Fans of Point & Click Adventure games will know that we reviewed the pirate themed Nelly Cootalot: The Fowl Fleet a while back, awarding it a well-deserved 8.3/10. It is a charming and humorous take on the genre, starring a feisty pirate heroine. What many players might not know is that The Fowl Fleet actually had a freeware prequel, titled Spoonbeaks Ahoy! While Spoonbeaks Ahoy! can still be enjoyed in its original low resolution format, the success of The Fowl Fleet has meant that fans can soon enjoy a remastered high definition version of the game.

Spoonbeaks Ahoy! was released all the way back in 2007, which makes its 640×480 resolution look a little dated on modern widescreen monitors. The remastered version of the game will bump the resolution up to 1920X1080, while retaining the humor that made it such a hit with fans. For those not familiar with Spoonbeaks Ahoy! It stars the swashbuckling Nelly Cootalot who is on a quest to find out why a fleet of birds, known as spoonbeaks, mysteriously disappeared. Standing between her and the answers she seek is the nefarious Baron Widebeard and a whole host of other wacky characters.

Although no knowledge of Spoonbeaks Ahoy! is required to enjoy The Fowl Fleet it is definitely a title deserving of a high definition update. Head on over to the Steam Greenlight page to cast a vote for the game and don’t forget to check out The Fowl Fleet, which is currently on sale too.
