The ever-evolving gaming technology has made video games even more entertaining and the new storytelling mode that is being included with many of the newest big hits is making video gaming more appealing than ever. Top-notch graphics, great soundtracks, real-time action, it’s all included, and better than you can imagine. It’s been a huge year and we’d thought we’d bring you our very own top 10 video games of 2018.
Top 10 Video Games 2018
The number of games released this year has been phenomenal and open-world adventure games have dominated. Fortnite seems to have taken over from Minecraft in building universes and first-person shooters are all the rage. There is a huge demand for new titles and more engaging narratives and improved technology has brought games that we’re not like to forget any time soon. Online gaming has also taken off in a big way with more and more multiplayer universes taking the lead when it comes to popularity. Online gaming with real money gambling has also soared in popularity due to eSports and the growing trend in mobile gaming. If this is something that interests you, there’s a huge number of online casinos and games from top providers that can be played for free and real cash prizes. Below are our top favourites from this year.
Monster Hunter World
Available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, this action role-playing series happens to be one of the most popular franchises in Japan and has a solid fan base in the rest of the world too. Monster Hunter World is the first game to be released in this franchise for nearly 10 years and if you choose to play it, be ready for an awesome adventure as you try to tame dragons and wild creatures.
Marvel’s Spider-Man
This has been one of the most popular games of 2018 and was released exclusively for the PS4. It’s an open-world action game similar to Batman Arkham Knight and it introduces players to a brand-new version of Spider-Man. The original storyline, action, and humour drew us in and fans worldwide thought the same. The only downside to this one is that if you don’t have a PlayStation 4 you’ll have to miss out.
Dragon Ball FighterZ
Released for the Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, this fighter game is a must. It features custom cell-shaded graphics, team-based gameplay, and so much more. A must-have for all fighting and anime enthusiasts.
Gods of War
Another PlayStation 4 exclusive, the 2018 reboot of this video game brought a whole new emphasis on storytelling and introduced players to a brand-new fighting system. The Previous iterations were all about Kratos’s quest for revenge, but this new game introduces his son Arteus and brings a whole new viewpoint. Tipped to be one of the big contenders for Game of the Year, Gods of War is a must play.
A Way Out
Available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, this is a narrative action game that follows the escape plans of two convicts. It is a two-player game with each player controlling one of the characters. The game is focused on storytelling, but the decisions you make can alter what happens. Storytelling games are a rapidly expanding video game market and this one is an excellent example of perfection.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, this is the final game in the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy and fans loved it. This game wraps up all the storylines from the previous games and sees Lara Croft exploring the jungles of Peru.
Forza Horizon 4
This Xbox One and PC game is one of the best Xbox One exclusive titles this year and a really impressive racing game. There are more than 500 cars to choose from and the open-world map gives players a variety of weather conditions and environments to traverse as they drive at full speed and try to beat the competition.
Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey
This is one of the biggest ongoing video game franchises in the industry and is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. This is a full open-world adventure with multiple Greek cities to explore. Odyssey is one of the largest open-world games to be made and it mixes historical fiction with mythological elements. The game story takes at least 30 hours to get through as well.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
This series has been one of the most popular since 2014. It’s available to play on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The addition of a Fortnite-inspired battle royale mode called Blackout has seen this iteration of the game franchise hit the spot with a lot of players and has brought players who had strayed back to the series.
Red Dead Redemption 2
The Red Dead Redemption 2 sequel has taken seven long years to make and is available on PS4 and Xbox One. It pushes the boundaries of open-world games and is filled with great characters who respond in real-time to the game’s hero, Arthur Morgan. Morgan’s character is defined by player choices and style and the game is set to expand too with the launch of the Red Dead Online multiplayer mode that will allow gamers to create their own gangs and complete new missions against other gangs.
As you can see, 2018 brought with it some amazing video games for all gaming types and the ones we’ve listed are just some of our favourites.
