Gigapocalypse Launching Into Steam Early Access On July 22nd
Players with an appetite for destruction can look forward to turning towering cities to rubble in the upcoming Gigapocalypse by Goody Gameworks and Headup. It is a 2D pixel-art destruction game, drawing inspiration from classic Kaijū movies such as Godzilla and King Kong. Of course, the legendary Rampage game series was also an influence on Gigapocalypse. The game is set to arrive on Steam Early Access on July 22, 2021, but fans can also try out the free demo available until June 27.
Gigapocalypse hands players the reigns of giant Kaijū-inspired monsters, called Gigas, to leave a trail of pixelated destruction in their wake. As their Giga evolves, it will also gain access to powerful mutations, skills, and skins. In fact, the Giga can eventually spawn up to five cute yet evil minions to assist it with its destructive journey. Wreaking havoc through unsuspecting cities is fun, but players must be ready to face the fearsome bosses that await them at the end of each level.
The full game will feature six beautifully detailed pixel-style locations, all of which are based on earth’s past, present, and future timeline. There will also be nine distinct Gigas to bring on the monster apocalypse. Taking care of the Gigas is handled through Tamagotchi-style mini-games, and players will also be able to decorate their “home.” Doing so can unlock more upgrades and make the Gigas even more menacing. The game promises fast-paced arcade action with simple controls and a heavy metal soundtrack to complement the onscreen chaos.
