Grotto Announced For PC, Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and iOS

Indie publisher Digerati and developer Brainwash Gang has announced the release of Grotto for PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and iOS. Brainwash Gang is the makers of Nongunz: Doppelganger Edition and The Longest Road on Earth, so players can expect something equally unique from Grotto.

Grotto has been in development since 2018 and is described by the developers as a fantasy narrative game. Players are cast in the role of the Soothsayer, who is a mysterious hermit living in the titular cave. His role is to read the stars and provide counsel to a primitive tribe.

Brainwash founder and developer, Edu Verzinsky, shared some insights about the reason why the team wanted to make Grotto.

“Some of us have a genuine interest in divination and have tried different techniques over the years. We like the idea of people’s lives being influenced by something as abstract as the interpretation of the stars,” says Verzinsky. “With Grotto, we hope players will become aware that the extraordinary powers of the protagonist comes from their own empathy when deciding on the life of the tribe.”

Some key features players can look forward to in Grotto include looking to the sky from the sacred rock, drawing the constellations, and reading the stars. Players will also be able to learn to read the bones and foretell the future or contact those who are gone. During the game, players get to know the people in their tribe and help them face their problems, but will have to choose their answers wisely as they can influence the present and future of the tribe. In addition, Grotto will feature a visual style that mixes 2D and 3D art to bring the confined world of the game to life.

Check out the announcement trailer for Grotto below and be sure to add the game to your Steam Wishlist. Brainwash Gang can be found on Twitter and they will be airing a broadcast on Twitch at 6 pm, CEST, today highlighting their current projects.
