Plague Inc. The Cure Free For All Plague Inc. Players Until COVID-19 Is Under Control
Back when Plague Inc was first released not even the developers could have imagined that the current state of our world would resemble their game. The game is a strategic simulation that challenges players to bring about the end of human history using a deadly global plague. It’s terrifying stuff and the game is so realistic that the CDC even asked the developer to do a talk about the infection models in the game. However, in light of the current situation in the world, Ndemic Creations has released a major new expansion for the game titled Plague Inc. Evolved: The Cure. It is a complete reversal from the classic game and instead of destroying the world challenges players to try and control the global pandemic response.
In Plague Inc. Evolved: The Cure players must dispatch research teams around the globe to find patient zero and track the spread of the outbreak. To control the outbreak measures such as contact tracing, lockdowns and border closures to limit the spread must also be implemented. Unfortunately, people won’t comply with poorly designed quarantine or lockdown measures, so the economy must also be supported. In addition, the research, manufacture, and distribution of a vaccine to stop the disease is also a top priority.
Plague Inc. Evolved: The Cure was created with the assistance of world health and infectious disease experts from all over the world. These include the CEPI, WHO, and GOARN, so a lot of thought and research has gone into the expansion. The founder of Ndemic Creations, James Vaughan, has stated how challenging it was to fit such a complex topic into a game. Thankfully, due to the input from experts, they were able to ensure it is not just engaging, but also educational. Richard Hatchett, the CEO of CEPI, added that The Cure encapsulates the complexities of a global pandemic response while also highlighting how crucial it is for collaboration when it comes to addressing such a threat. He believes that games like Plague Inc. Evolved: The Cure is part of an incredibly important medium for education and public awareness.
Steam users who own the original game can grab Plague Inc. Evolved: The Cure for free right away. It is also available on iOS and Android while console versions are planned for the future. Plague Inc. Evolved: The Cure will be free to all Plague Inc. players until COVID-19 is under control.
