Scary Horror Games To Play With Your Friends

Don’t want to play a horror game alone? Fear not, as there are loads of video games that can be played co-operatively with friends. So, if you would rather not play a scary game all on your lonesome, check out the bone-chilling multiplayer games below.

Dead By Daylight

Developer: Behaviour Interactive Inc.

Dead By Daylight is a great multiplayer title where four players team up as the survivors, and a fifth player takes on the role of the killer who is trying to take the survivors out, one by one. The person playing the killer can take on a variety of famous guises (if they have the appropriate DLC), including iconic Resident Evil villain The Nemesis and Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare On Elm Street Games. 

It’s fun to play as the baddie, but it’s even more fun to be a survivor, as you can talk tactics with your teammates when working out how to get through each level. The game’s developers have added these DBD codes to the in-game shop, and are worth checking out if you want to enhance your Dead By Daylight experience.

Dying Light 1 and 2

You need more than one hand to count the number of zombie games that are out there – especially if you have already lost a hand to a rampaging member of the undead – but for multiplayer fans, the Dying Light games are recommended.

Both games allow up to 4 players to take on the zombie apocalypse as they work together to complete side quests and the main mission in the expansive city environments. Dying Light 2 has the better graphics and combat system, but whichever game you play, you’re going to have a blast if you take on the might of the undead with your friends.

The Forest

Developer: Endnight Games

If you like survival games, The Forest is definitely a game you should try. As a survivor of a plane crash, you have to explore the titular game world to find weapons and bits and pieces for your shelter. If you don’t do this and decide to wander around the game’s map aimlessly, you will be picked off by the cannibals that are sharing the forest’s location with you.

Thankfully, you don’t have to survive the forest alone. PS4 players can team up with 3 other players, and PC gamers can team up with 7 (or more if they have a dedicated server), so you can build bases with your friends and journey together to look for supplies. Be warned: the cannibals can break through defenses with relative ease, so you will need to build stronger barricades if you want to survive this brutal adventure.

If you like the idea of this game, we also recommend 7 Days To Die, which is another horror title with survival elements where you have to establish defenses to protect yourself from a zombie infestation. Up to 8 players can join forces to survive the undead attack.
