Aces Wild: Manic Brawling Action!

Aces Wild: Manic Brawling Action!

Aces Wild is a game that will test your skills and reflexes but keep you coming back for more. The Wild meter adds an interesting dynamic to fights, and the over-the-top action provides a rush like no other. If you want a brawler that tests your ability to react to attacks instead of memorizing combos, then Aces Wild is the game for you.

Gameplay: Beat up everyone and everything in your way with stylish moves and combos.

Graphics: Brilliant character designs and vibrant 2D visuals.

Sound: Some fitting tunes to get the adrenaline pumping

Cloudrift

Cloudrift

Thanks to its psychedelic visuals, great soundtrack, and addictive gameplay, we have no qualms recommending Cloudrift. Chasing your next high score is a thrill, whether you play alone or as a team, but the versus mode is what will keep you coming back for more. Anyone looking for a game that is easy to get into but hard to stop playing should not miss out on Cloudrift.

Gameplay: The game is simple to understand but has enough variables to keep things exciting and addictive.

Graphics: The visuals in Cloudrift are colorful and hypnotic.

Sound: The tunes are easy on the ears and never become repetitive

Brigador (Stellar Jockeys)

Brigador (Stellar Jockeys)

Brigador, an Early Access title from Stellar Jockeys, challenges you with the task of liberating the city of Solo Nobre. At your disposal is a selection of tanks, mechs and antigrav vehicles, but standing in your way are the factions occupying the city. Whether you opt to go in all guns blazing or sneak in stealthily while picking off your targets, your mission remains the same, clear the city or die trying

Game Type

Game Type

Game Type is clearly more of a spoof than a full-fledged game, but floating around and shooting the bizarre enemies while chasing a high score is surprisingly addictive. The co-op mode adds to the fun, but still can’t hide the fact that the game is very simple and quite repetitive. On its own it is hard to recommend, but it is still worth checking out as part of the Mommy’s Best Action Pack.

Gameplay: Amusing, but loops very quickly and can be repetitive.

Graphics: Very basic and with almost non-existent animations.

Sound: The music is fitting, but the constant shouts of “Parkour” soon becomes annoying

Divine Slice of Life

Divine Slice of Life

For a short, but interesting visual novel that doesn’t take itself too seriously and features branching paths it is worth checking out Divine Slice of Life. The all ages version isn’t too bad, but the game is best played in its uncensored form. The story isn’t particularly deep or original, but overall the game is enjoyable enough for us to recommend to fans of the genre.

Gameplay: Rather short, but features an interesting story and multiple endings.

Graphics: Better than what we are used to seeing in Western visual novels.

Sound: Decent soundtrack and full English voice acting

Explosionade

Explosionade

Explosionade has been out for a while on Xbox 360 already, but this PC version still delivers plenty of action. It is a 2D shooter that feels lifted straight from the arcade, and the new leaderboards provide an extra incentive to aim for a high score. Although the game is still great on its own, we suggest grabbing the Mommy’s Best Action Pack to get it along with three other titles from the same developer.

Gameplay: Small levels filled with many enemies ensure the action never lets up.

Graphics: There is an almost Neo Geo style to the 2D visuals.

Sound: The game features decent music and plenty of sound effects

Nidhogg

Nidhogg

If single player games are your thing then you can probable give Nidhogg a miss. Gather around a few friends and start a tournament if you really want to experience what all the fuss is about. The frantic combat will test your luck and reflexes while the low system requirements means the game will run smoothly on just about any hardware.

Gameplay: The single player is good practice but the real fun lies in multi-player.

Graphics: Retro pixel art with smooth animations.

Sound: A brilliant electronic soundtrack composed by Daedelus

Rememoried

Rememoried

Rememoried combines surreal but beautiful visuals, atmospheric music, and some very perplexing puzzles into one unique experience. The landscapes you explore are not only dreamlike but, in true dream fashion, also change when you look away, which takes a while to get used to. Don’t expect just to walk around and gawk at the pretty visuals, though, as the game also features plenty of platform jumping, which can be tricky. Overall, it is an engrossing and unique title, but it might be a little too niche for some players.

Gameplay: The game doesn’t hold your hand or spell out what you must do, which can sometimes be confusing.

Graphics: The visuals are minimalist but very beautiful.

Sound: The audio is varied and very atmospheric

Steam Early Access Debut For Ironkraft – Road to Hell is Just Around The Corner

Steam Early Access Debut For Ironkraft – Road to Hell is Just Around The Corner

There has been plenty of games set in alternative WW2 realities, but Ironkraft might just be one of the strangest. With Zomies, Nazis and even aliens thrown in for good measure its post-apocalyptic vehicle driven universe certainly sounds like it won’t be boring. The game was Greenlit on Steam in less than eight days back in August and is set for an Early Access release on October 21st 2015

Gryphon Knight Epic

Gryphon Knight Epic

With only eight levels it doesn’t take very long to complete Gryphon Knight Epic, but the game is certainly enjoyable while it lasts. It doesn’t have the speed or overwhelming odds of a bullet hell shooter, but the slower pace still provides a challenge. Add to that the beautiful pixel art visuals and you have a game that all retro fans will enjoy.

Gameplay: The pace is a bit slower than modern side scrolling shooters, but still challenging and enjoyable.

Graphics: Beautiful pixel art visuals with detailed backgrounds and tons of enemy variety.

Sound: Not bad, but not exactly memorable either
