Carto

Carto

Carto is a unique puzzle adventure with charming visuals and very creative challenges. The protagonist has cartography powers that allow her to manipulate her surroundings using different map pieces and this forms the basis for most of the puzzles. Apart from a few puzzles that can be a little obscure, this is a relaxing adventure that will keep most players entertained for the seven or so hours it lasts.

Gameplay: Moving around map pieces to change your surroundings allows for some creative puzzles.

Graphics: The hand-drawn visuals and charming animations make for a lovely looking game.

Sound: No voice acting, but the soundtrack is great

Zombie Army 4: Dead War

Zombie Army 4: Dead War

Zombie Army 4: Dead War refines all the zombie sniping antics of Zombie Army Trilogy while also adding some of the refinements found in Strange Brigade. It’s a very entertaining game with plenty of action, but like its predecessors, it’s best played with a group of friends. Dead War still has a couple of rough spots and can get repetitive, but has plenty of replay value.

Gameplay: Run around in third person while shooting zombies with sniper rifles and other World War 2 era weapons.

Graphics: Detailed and gory, but the color palette can be a little dull at times.

Sound: Decent music and sound effects, but there’s entirely too much blabbering going on for a zombie game

Eastshade

Eastshade

Eastshade is a peaceful first-person adventure game where players get to explore an island as an artist who specializes in realistic paintings. The game is without risk and danger, so the focus is very much on exploration and interacting with the unique cast of anthropomorphic animals. Some players might find it a little too slow-paced and boring, but despite some technical shortcomings, it is still a great game.

Gameplay: Very peaceful and relaxing.

Graphics: Quite beautiful at times.

Sound: The soundtrack is mellow and the voice acting decent for the most part

Burnout™ Paradise Remastered

Burnout™ Paradise Remastered

Burnout Paradise Remastered is an updated version of the original release from 2008 featuring better visuals as well as all the previously released DLC. The game looks better than ever and is still a lot of fun to play, but also retains a lot of the archaic interface elements. It also lacks features such as way-points and a fast travel system that fans of modern open-world games take for granted. Nevertheless, it is still a lot of fun to play and there are hours upon hours of content waiting in Paradise City.

Gameplay: Fun and addictive, but some things have not aged so well in the ten years since the original release.

Graphics: Not a massive visual overhaul compared to the original, but the game does look pretty good.

Sound: The soundtrack is still great and the sound effects decent

Jiangshi x Daoshi

Jiangshi x Daoshi

Jiangshi x Daoshi is a very unique kinetic novel featuring some of the most animated and over the top scenes we’ve seen in the genre. The quirky style of the game and Chinese folklore elements can be a little overwhelming at first, but it’s hard not to get sucked in by the characters and story. The first two episodes are completely free, so there’s no reason to miss out on the game and the third episode is worth the price of admission as well if you are hooked.

Gameplay: A kinetic novel, so there are no choices, but the story is very unique.

Graphics: The over the top animated style of the game is something to behold.

Sound: Decent voice acting as well as a very varied soundtrack

The Wizard and The Slug

The Wizard and The Slug

The Wizard and The Slug is a whimsical 2D platformer with an enormously entertaining story and characters. The humor is by far the highlight of this game, but it also contains some challenging platform action. The inclusion of all kinds of strange encounters, goofy mini-games, and laugh-out-loud jokes doesn’t hurt it either. Even players who are not very good at platform games will be able to experience this one due to the inclusion of an “assist” menu, so don’t miss out.

Gameplay: The game features decent platforming action, but it’s the small touches that make the game stand out.

Graphics: The visuals are very basic but also very charming.

Sound: The music and sound effects are decent and very fitting

MECHBLAZE

MECHBLAZE

MECHBLAZE is a no-nonsense run and gun mech shooter with some great bosses to take down. The game does have a bit of a learning curve due to the controls, but multiple difficulty settings ensure that it is accessible to players of all skill levels. Fans of ASTRO PORT and the Astro Saga universe that they have created will have the most fun with this game, but we also recommend it to anyone who loves a good shooter.

Gameplay: Plenty of guns and more than enough enemies to shoot at.

Graphics: The enemy designs and animations look great.

Sound: Decent, but outstanding

DYSMANTLE ( 10tons Ltd)

DYSMANTLE ( 10tons Ltd)

Dysmantle by 10tons Ltd opens with the protagonist emerging from his shelter to a post-apocalyptic island that is overrun with all kinds of hostile creatures. Clearly, something very bad happened, and you might just be the only surviving human left on the island. Fortunately, it appears that there is a way to get off the island, but it is going to take a lot of exploration and preparation to do so successfully

Pinball FX3 – Williams™ Pinball: Volume 6

Pinball FX3 – Williams™ Pinball: Volume 6

Pinball FX3 – Williams™ Pinball: Volume 6 is another great collection of pinball tables featuring authentic as well as remastered versions of classic tables. This volume includes Funhouse, Dr. Dude and His Excellent Ray as well as Space Station. These tables were some of the last by Williams to use alpha-numeric displays and while two of them have been digitally created before this is the first official virtual recreation of Space Station. The tables are very tricky and occasionally frustrating, but still fun to play and a great addition to any pinball collection.

Gameplay: The tables are not as over the top as other Pinball FX3 ones, but still quite challenging.

Graphics: Both the original and remastered versions of the three tables look great.

Sound: Very authentic, but there are some volume issues with the sounds
