Dead Space 2 is a thrill a minute rollercoaster ride through an infected space station and while some people might be put off by all the action it does make for a very gripping game. The frights are less this time round, but the tension is still high and as far as sequels go this one is good.

Gameplay: The same core gameplay as the first game just way more action packed.

Graphics: While not the best I’ve seen the art style is good and the locations way more varied and interesting.

Sound: Ominous

The series is moving away even further from its creepy horror roots and starting to feel a bit like a typical “Call of Duty” style shooter. There’s still a few nice ideas, but the scares are thin on the ground and the story isn’t exactly gripping. The co-op seems to have been the main focus of the game and works well.

Gameplay: The shooting mechanics are solid but it loses that spooky “F.E.A.R” feeling along the way.

Graphics: Looks good and the environments are a bit more varied than before.

Sound: Nothing but silence from the lead character, but overall the voices and music is decent

Crayon Physics Deluxe

Crayon Physics Deluxe is a charming little indie game that will suck in anybody that gives it a fair try. It’s loads of fun to just mess around and draw different things to see what contraptions you can come up with. With 70 levels and different challenges you’ll be playing this one far longer than you might think.

Gameplay: Extremely simple, but very impressive at the same time.

Graphics: Intentional crayon scribbles.

Sound: Not outstanding, but not annoying either

Morph Girl combines nineties style FMV and Japanese horror in an interesting visual novel. The game deals with a woman who is mourning the death of her wife, so the story might be a bit too somber for anyone looking for a lighthearted visual novel. It is also rather short and the acting could have been better, but even with all its flaws Morph Girl still offers a unique and compelling experience.

Gameplay: Passive for the most part, but there are some choices to be made.

Graphics: Morph Girl makes use of FMV to convey its storyline.

Sound: No voice acting and a haunting soundtrack keeps things interesting

Endless Fables: The Minotaur’s Curse

Play as a descendant of Ariadne and prevent the return of the Minotaur in this hidden object puzzle adventure from Sunward Games. The Greek mythology storyline offers a perfect excuse for visiting some exotic locations and while the game is quite easy, it still offers plenty of entertainment. It shares a lot of similarities with the Secret Order series from the same developer, but overall it still has plenty to offer fans. As long as you don’t expect anything groundbreaking from this title, it will provide you with a couple of hours of relaxing entertainment.

Gameplay: A solid, Greek mythology themed hidden object puzzle adventure.

Graphics: Varied locations featuring detailed visuals.

Sound: Good, but not great

JYDGE

A robotic cop that acts as judge, jury, and executioner? It might not be the most original idea, but JYDGE from 10tons Ltd certainly offers a lot of fun. It is a top-down shooter with tons of customization options for your character, as well as weapons. This means that it caters to various playing styles and offers a lot of replay value despite the relatively small number of levels. If you are a genre fan or enjoy games that allow you to experiment with how you approach objectives, you’ll have a blast with JYDGE.

Gameplay: Jydge is action-packed and offers lots of fun.

Graphics: The visuals are perhaps a little too similar to Neon Chrome, but it still looks good.

Sound: The soundtrack is great, and the sound effects are very impressive

WAGAMAMA HIGH SPEC

Join Narumi Kouki, a hardworking manga author who is still a student as he tries to juggle work and studies. To complicate matters for Kouki, he is pressured into joining the student council where he finds himself with more responsibilities as well as the only guy among a group of beautiful girls. Wagamama High Spec is a typical slice of life visual novel with a school setting, but the charming characters, humor and different routes make it stand it from the competition. There’s nothing really new here for people who are tired of the setting or tropes, but the writing is good and the visuals very polished.

Gameplay: Not a lot of choices, but they do lead to four very different story paths.

Graphics: Beautiful illustrations, tons of CGs and some nice backgrounds.

Sound: Full Japanese voice acting along with plenty of great tunes

Bullet Soul Infinite Burst

Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst is an upgrade of the original game that adds a couple of new features to an already enjoyable title. The Combination Burst mode really opens up a whole new style of play, and even the existing modes have been rebalanced and improved with new enemy patterns. While it is not going to change the minds of those who are not fans of the genre, Infinite Burst is surprisingly newcomer-friendly and offers an enjoyable experience with plenty of game modes.

Gameplay: The game features no new levels compared to the original Bullet Soul, but the new modes are definitely worthwhile.

Graphics: The visuals show their age but still look decent enough for the genre.

Sound: The soundtrack is great, but the sound effects are a little feeble

Lost Dimension

As the team leader of S.E.A.L.E.D, you are tasked with taking down a madman who has aspirations of destroying the world. The task should be easy enough seeing as you are in command of an elite group with extraordinary powers, but sadly this doesn’t turn out to be the case. Instead, you are faced with a mysterious tower that is infested with strange enemies as well as the looming threat of traitors in your midst. Completing your mission will require plenty of strategic thinking as well as some hard sacrifices along the way. Although it is a console port, Lost Dimension is an addictive game with some great tactical elements and interesting party members. If you are a fan of turn-based tactical role playing games, then it should not be missed.

Gameplay: The short, but tactical missions makes for an addictive experience and the game also has a ton of replay value.

Graphics: It is a console port, so the visuals aren’t exactly bursting with detail, but everything looks decent enough in high definition.

Sound: Good voice acting and a solid soundtrack

A Hat in Time

Help Hat Girl retrieve the time pieces that fuel her spaceship in this colorful and charming 3D platformer. It is definitely a nostalgic experience for fans of the genre and offers a rip-roaring adventure across large, colorful levels. The hat swapping antics and the way in which the game constantly switches things up certainly makes for an engrossing experience. It is not without its flaws and could have benefited from a bit more polish, but what is on offer should definitely not be missed if you have fond memories of classic 3D platformers.

Gameplay: Solid 3D platforming action and plenty of variety.

Graphics: Bright, colorful and more than delivers on its promise of being “cute-as-heck.”

Sound: The soundtrack is great and the game even features some nice voice acting
