Epistory – Typing Chronicles

Basing an entire game around typing is not new, but Epistory does it exceptionally well and never feels like an “edutainment” title. It has a vibrant game world to explore, plenty of enemies to kill, and puzzles to solve. Seeing as the entire game is keyboard-driven and requires lots of typing, it is a bit of a niche title, but definitely worth the effort. Unless you absolutely hate typing or still get by using only one finger, Epistory should not be missed.

Gameplay: Expect plenty of typing as you explore, fight enemies, and solve puzzles.

Graphics: The origami-style visuals are unique and look great.

Sound: The game features a great soundtrack, and the narrator does a stellar job as well

Devil May Cry® 3 Special Edition

If you are the kind of gamer that sneers at console ports or action games that require a fair amount of finger dexterity then DMC 3 probably won’t appeal to you. If however you stare longingly at the button mashers on console while your PC gamepad gathers dust in the cupboard this is the game for you. Fast paced and action packed with only some minor niggles DMC 3 is a solid game despite its console roots.

Gameplay: Action packed from start to finish.

Graphics: The console roots are obvious but not too shabby overall.

Sound: Nice music and cool voice-overs

Dragon Age: Origins – Leliana’s Song

Leliana’s Song is a pretty short standalone campaign, which is a must download for fans of the sneaky bard and Dragon Age completionists. As for the rest, well if you are not tired of Dragon Age yet and don’t mind shelling out for a very short adventure then you can do far worse than this.

Gameplay: Pretty short, but action packed and polished.

Graphics: Same old Dragon Age, nothing new.

Sound: Some nice voice acting throughout

Borderlands: Claptrap’s Robot Revolution

While not the epic finale that I would have liked to see, Claptrap’s Robot Revolution still has plenty to offer fans of the game. The Claptraps are adorable and the new “claptrapped” enemies look pretty cool even if they still act the same. While not as big on content as the last DLC it should tide fans over until the inevitable arrival of Borderlands 2.

Gameplay: More of the same but still fun.

Graphics: Apart from the Claptrapped themed enemies, not much new.

Sound: Still good

The Secret Order 3: Ancient Times

The Secret Order 3: Ancient Times offers more of what made the previous installments so much fun to play. It doesn’t make any drastic changes to the formula, but instead polished everything up a bit and switched to a more fantasy theme. It is still not perfect and probably won’t sway players who aren’t already fans of the genre, but once again provides a couple of hours of solid entertainment.

Gameplay: Veterans might find it a bit easy, but there are some nice puzzles to solve.

Graphics: More colorful and detailed than previous installments.

Sound: The sound effects are a highlight, but the music and voice acting is mostly good as well

Zombie Games Refuse to Die With Latest Walking Dead Game

Just when you thought it was over, it returns from the grave. You might have thought that the zombie-craze was finally dead, but as the subject matter might suggest, it simply refuses to kick the bucket. The Walking Dead continues to be one of the most popular shows on television and with the cliffhanger at the end of season 6, fans are clamoring for more undead action. Thankfully, Telltale Games has taken up the call with a new miniseries of its popular adventure survival horror series based on the comics

Fallout 3 – Mothership Zeta

Mothership Zeta is a bit of a step backwards as far as Fallout 3 DLC is concerned. The game still has the trademark humor and some interesting areas, but the endless combat and lack of side missions turns it into a grind at times.

Gameplay: Strips Fallout 3 down to a linear corridor shooter.

Graphics: Brand new visual assets and a suitably sci-fi environment.

Sound: Still good

Flight of the Amazon Queen

A very entertaining game which was obviously heavily inspired by some of the Lucasarts classics. It may seem a bit dated, but it’s still fun & challenging so fans of the genre should have a blast.

Gameplay: Fun but nothing too tricky.

Graphics: Obviously a bit dated but still nice.

Sound: Pretty low-key overall

Borderlands: The Secret Armory of General Knoxx

With more humour, weapons, enemies, locations and vehicles this is the best Borderlands DLC yet. A much improved effort than Mad Moxxis Underdome Riot and another chance to loot Pandora. The story is engaging and apart from the tedious driving sections this DLC is a lot of fun to play. If you own Borderlands then you definitely want this DLC as it ups the level cap and throws in some nice high-level loot.

Gameplay: A much better effort than the previous DLC.

Graphics: Nice but nothing we haven’t seen before in the main game.

Sound: The usual high standard

The Secret Order 2: Masked Intent

The Secret Order 2: Masked Intent is a hidden object game that doesn’t just confine itself to one theme, or even time period. Instead, you’ll be visiting a variety of locations, spread across the ages as you attempt to thwart a member of the secret order who has gone rogue. It is a good looking game, with plenty of detail and while there is nothing here we haven’t seen before in the genre, it still kept us engaged and entertained.

Gameplay: Plenty of hidden object scenes as well as puzzles to solve.

Graphics: The locations are nice and varied and the visuals are quite detailed.

Sound: The soundtrack is quite moody and atmospheric
