Does The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker meets Stardew Valley sound like your type of game? Well, that’s exactly what the tropical adventure, Summer in Mara, is shaping up to be. It’s a winning combination if ever there was one and, judging from the reception on Kickstarter, a lot of players agree. It’s the tale of a girl named Koa who lives in peace on her home island. However, she has always felt the call of the ocean and the urge to explore, so she sets out to do just that with her boat.

Players who take to the ocean will be able to discover new island, where there are new people to meet and trade with. Of course, Kao could also just stay on her own island to farm and craft new tools, but she is going to have to venture out of her comfort zone if she wants to save the ocean. The ocean brings life, but it is also in danger due to an evil corporation that is eager to conquer it and exploit all its resourced.

Summer in Mara has a modest Kickstarter goal of $22,803 goal and, at the time of writing this, close to 700 backers have already stepped up and contributed more than 80% of this total. Backers who pledge about $15 US can look forward to a digital download of Summer in Mara for the PC, PS4 or Switch, along with their name in the credits and some other goodies. Those who are able to spare a bit more cash can select some of the higher tiers that include everything from an artbook and OST to a diorama of Mara beaches, Summer in Mara Plushie and believe it or not, a tropical ukulele.

Summer in Mara is a single-player game that will allow players to adventure at their own pace. It definitely looks like a title to keep your eye on if you are looking for a calm and relaxing experience and the handmade look of the game also sets it apart. Judging by the features, it’s not going to be lacking in content either. Players will get to tackle more than 150 quests to make the world a better place and interact with more than 20 characters. In addition to trading, the game will also have crafting, the ability to improve your boat, new skills and abilities for Kao as well as a day and night cycle.

For more information about the island that you will get to explore and the characters you’ll run into, go take a look at the Summer in Mara Kickstarter page. This isn’t the first time that Chibig Studio has turned to Kickstarter and their previous campaign, which was for Deiland, was a huge success. The game will launch for PC, Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch, but if the Kickstarter Campaign reaches its stretch goal, it will also make the leap to Xbox One.

At one point or another in our lives, we have all had that dream of being chased by something horrible. For some these are once off occurrences, but for the less fortunate these types of nightmares can become a regular occurrence. Also, while adults can typically shrug off these dreams, it is often harder for children to deal with something so terrifying.

Lode Runner Legacy (Tozai Games, Inc.)

From Donkey Kong and Dig Dug to Gauntlet and Gradius, the 1980s were a golden era for classic video-game franchises. One of these franchises is Lode Runner, which was first released for the Apple II in 1983 and quickly moved on to other platforms. Its action-packed, yet puzzle-oriented gameplay made it an instant hit and even people like Alexey Pajitnov counted it amongst their favorite puzzle titles. Although there hasn’t been a shortage of new releases over the years, the last appearance of Lode Runner was back in 2012 on Android and iOS. Thankfully, this is about to change with the upcoming release of Lode Runner Legacy for PC.

In recent years we’ve seen indie developers take on some pretty ambitious projects, and pull it off, but Epic Dragon takes things to a whole new level. This indie outfit composes of only a programmer and artist, but these two guys plan on creating an MMORPG. We are not talking pixel art or retro art visuals either, but full-blown 3D and tons of detail. Even more amazing, they plan for the whole thing to run inside a modern browser without the need for any plug-ins to be installed first and for players to get in the game within seconds.
