Otome fans will already be familiar with the big names like Otomate, Voltage and Reject. Newcomers Weeev might be a small group, but their goal is to offer experiences comparable to what players expect from these big developers. That is why Weeev turned to Kickstarter for their debut title, Purrfectly Ever After. In case the name didn’t give it away already, it is a feline themed visual novel starring cute characters and a romantic story.
The heroine of the tale is Pastel, a cat who not only loves food, but is also the leader of a whole gang helping her get her paws on the tasty treats. However, her thieving ways attract the attention of the authorities and it results in one of her friends being taken hostage to lure her out. Despite pulling off a successful rescue mission she decides to disband the group in order to keep her friends out of trouble. Much to Pastel’s surprise, her wish of becoming human in order to earn food honestly is granted by a Fairy Godmother. There is one catch though, she can never steal again.
And so begins Pastel’s adventures as a newly turned human as she tries to find her bearings in the retro futuristic world of the game. As this is an otome title, Pastel will have her pick of five different guys, all with their own personalities. The game will also have ten different endings, split into romance or destiny, depending on the choices you make. This means that there is tons of replay value and Weev promises that seeing everything will probably take more than forty hours!
Purrfectly Ever After is planned for iOS and Android, but if the Steam Greenlight campaign is successful it will also appear on PC. The game will feature plenty of comedy, drama and heart melting romance, so it definitely sounds like something fans of the genre will appreciate. Should the Kickstarter funding reach its first stretch goal the developers are also promising to add a hidden character to the game.
