Incoming Halloween Update For Devil’s Dare Offers Something For Everyone

Not content with releasing one of the most entertaining side scrolling beat ‘em ups that we have played this year, Secret Base have been hard at work on a new update. Releasing just in time for Halloween, the update adds a new survival mode to the game, complete with its own leaderboards. This mode can be played with up to four players and will feature separate leaderboards depending on the number of players.

Players who found the challenge of the game a little too old school for their liking will be happy to hear that a new “casual” difficulty is also introduced. According to the developers the leaderboard and achievements will be disabled in this mode, but it will give players the opportunity to get a feel for the game without being pummeled. Since this mode will feature its own ending, there is still plenty of incentive to play the game in its original form.

Anyone that has read our REVIEW for Devil’s Dare knows that it comes highly recommended, but thanks to the new free demo you don’t just have to take our word for it anymore. The demo offers a single level which can be tried out with all the characters and provides a nice overview of what to expect.

Players who have already conquered Devil’s Dare might be interested in the new high score challenge offered by the developers. A cash prize of USD$166.50 is being offered for each of the top ranking players on the four new leaderboards, adding up to a sizeable bounty of $666 appropriately enough. You can either go for it on your own or grab a couple of your most skilled friends to help out. In addition to the prize money you will also have the honor of appearing as a statue in the final level! Other rewards include appearing as a living character in the game, appearing as a corpse in the game and additional copies are also up for grabs for those placing second to tenth on the leaderboards. For a full list of instructions, rewards and other important notes check out the announcement page on Steam. The challenge will kick off 31st October 2014 at 23:59 Pacific Time, but take note that the current leaderboard will be erased as part of the update.

Devil’s Dare already had enough content to keep players busy for hours and the new survival mode will increase the replay value even more. The free demo is also a welcome offering from the developers and should be enough to sway players still unsure whether they should jump into the parody filled world of Devil’s Dare.
