Alex Kidd Set To Make A Comeback Thanks To Merge Games

Before Sonic The Hedgehog arrived on the scene and stole his thunder Alex Kidd was a pretty big deal during the eighties. At one point the Alex Kidd in Miracle World was built into the Master System console and numerous sequels followed. Unfortunately, things were less glamorous for Alex Kidd after the release of Sonic, and apart from a few cameo appearances in other games, we haven’t seen much of him. This is about to change thanks to Merge games, in conjunction with the developer, Jankenteam.

The new game, titled Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX premiered live on the IGN Summer of Gaming Show with a reveal trailer showing what fans can expect. The new game will feature all of the original content and levels, but also comes with striking art, improved boss-fight systems, and different modes. Even better, the game will also include extra levels that expand the lore of the original title.

For fans who want to relive the pure nostalgia of the Master System classic, there is a Retro Mode that features a recreated version of the original graphic style. For non-stop Rock Paper Scissors action there’s also a new Boss Rush Mode. A wealth of updates, which includes improvements to combat, movement mechanics, and new menu systems will ensure that Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX has a new level of fluidity compared to the original classic.

In Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX, players will face off against a baddie named Janken the Great who has turned every citizen in the Kingdom of Radaxian to stone. Fortunately, thanks to his Power Bracelet, Alex Kidd packs a mean punch and won’t let anything stand in his way on his quest to save the kingdom.
