There is no shortage of racing games available for PC, so it requires something really special to get us excited about a new release. Assetto Corsa, the driving simulation from Kunos Simulazioni, not only got us excited but prompted us to buy a new racing wheel especially for the game. The best part is it is not even finished yet!

Assetto Corsa is available on Steam Early Access and despite still requiring some work before a full release it is already looking, and playing amazing. The game features real-world circuits that have been reproduced from laser scan technology and the results are impressive to say the least. Hurtling around the bends of Imola, Monza, Mugello, Silverstone and more not only looks incredible but feels great as well.

Then there are the cars from prestigious brands such as BMW, Lotus, Ferrari and McLaren that have been meticulously modeled. We are talking jaw dropping cockpit details and exteriors that put most other racing games to shame. The damage modeling has yet to be implemented but at this stage each car handles in a unique way. Slipping behind the wheel of these vehicles is an unbelievable experience and if you have a racing wheel you are in for a treat. You can feel every bump in the road thanks to the force feedback, and the realistic physics. Kunos Simulazioni has recently won an award for “Best Technical Realization” and it was certainly well deserved!

For an Early Access title the game already has enough to keep you busy for ages but the best is yet to come. The developers are still working on the online portion of the game and the final release will also have an extensive career mode. At this stage you can practice on the available tracks with the vehicles or take part in special event challenges. These include drag and drift races, as well as quick races and a time attack mode. Although Assetto Corso is a realistic simulator there is enough assist options to ensure that even newcomers can enjoy the experience while they learn the ropes.

Playing from the cockpit view is obviously the most immersive but you can also race using the exterior, hood or first person views. The game has support for single and triple screens as well as the Oculus Rift. The developers have also promised to include editing tools for the game which should really enhance the longevity.

If you are a fan of racing games, especially simulations, then you won’t want to miss Assetto Corsa. It is a bit pricier than the average Early Access titles but all those licensed cars and tracks definitely did not come cheap. The developers have been diligent with updates for the game and the most recent one added the Pagani Huayra to the roster of vehicles.

Assetto Corsa is one of those games where you can spend hours just trying out all the cars and tracks. It is one of the most addictive racing games we have experienced and mastering the vehicles is incredibly rewarding. We will save the in-depth details for a full review but suffice to say this game comes highly recommended.

My first steps in the world of Jagged Alliance Flashback see me moving my character, a CIA operative, away from the burning helicopter wreck that was his ride a few seconds ago. Vertiginous Golf (Kinelco & Lone Elk Creative)

What better way to leave the drudgery of a dark, rainy, smog filled Victorian world behind, than to up stakes and live in the sunny skies above the clouds. This is exactly what the rich elite of Vertiginous Golf do. This is all thanks to the power of the Vertiginous Levitation System, which the poor workers back on the ground have to maintain. As a reward for their service, the workers are allowed to experience the wonders of the Vertiginousphere, albeit from a virtual perspective only.

Neverinth (CreAct Games)

It's not often that we see indie developers take a stab at the "Soulsborne" series, but that is exactly what CreAct Games is attempting with Neverinth. The game, which is currently in Early Access on Steam, challenges players to explore the ever-changing halls of the Neverinth and uncover the history of the Valkyrie. The most recent update to the game added a brand new Valkyrie, the katana wielding Proud Aspirant, who is the third out of a promised five playable characters in Neverinth.

Fancy a rather destructive take on the brick break genre? Well, Caromble from Crimson Owl Studios has got you covered. The five members that make up this talented team of Dutch indie developers have apparently been working on the game for a few years already while also juggling other jobs, so clearly they are committed to getting it right!

Card Hog (SnoutUp)

Card Hog by SnoutUp is a card-based dungeon crawler where you pick your little pig protagonist and then try to stay alive for as long as possible. Along the way, you get to slay all manner of foes and pick up different weapons with which to do the slaying. You'll also want to keep an eye on your health and grab the healing potions needed to keep the porky protagonist alive. All in all, it plays like a typical role-playing game but presented in the most accessible way possible.

The Sandbox (Pixowl Inc.)

After already impressing players on iOS and Android, The Sandbox has made the leap to the PC and is available as an Early Access title interestingly enough. This shows that the developers are not just treating the PC version as a quick port and are willing to listen to player feedback in order to deliver a good game.
