BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites Is A Remastered, High Definition Edition of the Original
Originally released in 2011, BloodRayne: Betrayal is a side-scrolling platform game that divided players with its brutal difficulty. Some loved the tough-as-nails challenge, while others appreciated the visuals but found the difficulty too frustrating. Of course, ten years is a long time in the gaming industry, and the game is definitely showing its age at this point. Thankfully, Ziggurat has announced that a remastered, high-definition edition of the game, titled BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bite, will be released this Summer.
BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bite is being developed by the game’s original creators, WayForward, and will be headed to PC, PS5, Xbox One X|S, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. PlayStation 4 & 5 and Nintendo Switch owners can also look forward to an exclusive physical release of the game, thanks to a partnership with Limited Run Games.
For those who missed out on the original game, it featured a 2D hack ‘n slash platforming experience instead of the 3D action of BloodRayne and BloodRayne 2. The game tasks Rayne to lead a group of soldiers into a giant underground castle to take on her own father, Kagan. However, the soldiers are no match for Kagan’s supernatural menaces, leaving it up to Rayne to complete the mission.
BloodRayne Betrayal: First Bite will feature enhanced visuals that support resolutions up to 4K. WayForward is also upgrading the game with some modern features, including all-new voice acting. This is exciting for longtime fans of the series as both Laura Bailey, who voiced Rayne in the original games, and Troy Baker, who voiced Kagan, are making a comeback. Patrick Seitz and Todd Haberkorn will also provide additional voices.
The game will still feature the same savagely challenging stages for players who relished the difficulty of BloodRayne: Betrayal. However, a newly rebalanced gameplay experience will make the game more accessible for players who want to jump straight into the action.
