For Some Holiday Cheer Look No Further Than A Merry Hyrule Christmas

It’s December, which means that there is no getting away from classic Christmas music. However, for everyone tired of hearing the same old songs there’s a brand new Legend of Zelda-themed Christmas album out now titled A Merry Hyrule Christmas.

Presented by Materia Collective, A Merry Hyrule Christmas is a festive collection of music that pays tribute to The Legend of Zelda as well as some well known Christmas carols. The album was produced by Eric Buchholz who previously worked on Hero of Time as well as other arrangements in the past. Assisting Eric was a merry band of arrangers who ensured that this album is a treat for both fans of The Legend of Zelda as well as those who love Christmas music in general.

A Merry Hyrule Christmas features eight tracks and the songs are not just Zelda music with a Christmas twist, but also Christmas music with a Zelda twist. According to Buchholz, his goal was to create an album of videogame music that could blend in seamlessly with classic holiday tunes, and after listening to the songs we have to admit that he has managed to pull it off. Anyone not familiar with The Legend of Zelda could easily mistake the tunes for classic Christmas songs without even realizing the videogame twist. At least until the final track, The Twelve Days of Christmas, which might raise a few eyebrows from anyone paying attention to the lyrics. We also love the fact that the album features everything from grandiose orchestra and choir to epic rock stylings for the tracks.

A Merry Hyrule Christmas is available now on all online storefronts, so give the tracks a listen below and let us know what you think of the album.
