Remember the good old days when you could just storm a dungeon and rescue the princess? Well those days are well and truly behind us as modern princesses demand a little more from their would-be rescuers. At least, that’s the premise behind this intriguing looking 3D action platformer by AweKteaM. Tower Princess will give players the opportunity to step into the armor of one of the knights and knightesses who are brave enough to take on the procedural dungeons.

Apparently, an evil dragon imprisoned every single royal heir that he could find, which resulted in numerous unsuccessful rescue attempts from the worthy suitors of all the kingdoms. Their failure has left the door wide open for an endless queue of humdrum knights and knightesses, which is why you get to have a turn. It’s not as simple as just beating the dragon and defeating the dragon, though, as along the way you are also going to have to manage a perfect date if you want to impress the royal heir you are trying to rescue. From the looks of it, these dates could be as simple as just having a walk together, to hunting dungeon crabs, depending on what your companion feels like.

AweKteaM has drawn their inspiration for the game from a wide range of classic titles, such as Jack & Daxter, Maximo, Medieval, and many others, which is definitely a good sign. Don’t worry that rescuing royals will just be simple escort missions either. Instead, the developers have promised that each of them will have their own abilities and role, so you will need their help if you hope to stand a chance against the evil dragon. So, for example, the Zombie Princess can use her necromancy to aid and heal her night, while the Mermaid Princess is more of a spell caster that can use her sea magic to assist in combat. The princesses and princes that are already included in the game looks like quite an interesting bunch and AweKteaM has also revealed a few that they would like to add as stretch-goals.

Tower Princess really looks like it could be something special and it is also great to see that the game will allow you to either collaborate or compete with friends if you want a multiplayer experience instead of playing solo. The fact that the knights and dungeons will be generated randomly for each playthrough will also keep things interesting.

For more information about the characters, combat styles, upgrades, NPCs and tower itself, head on over to the Kickstarter page for Tower Princess. It also shows you exactly what you’ll get back from backing the game as well as who the team behind the game is. Currently, there are still a few weeks left to back the Kickstarter, so don’t miss out!

According to the developers, the original game was purchased by more than 4 million players, but this doesn’t mean that they are resting on their laurels for the sequel. Instead the team, which is composed of people from PlayWay INC and Red Dot Game Studios, listened to player feedback and is creating a game with plenty of new stuff.
