Oddworld: Soulstorm Releases April 6th
The wait for Oddworld: Soulstorm is almost over as the digital version of the game will officially release on April 6th, 2021. Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee was originally released in 1997 and the follow-up, Abe’s Exoddus, came out the next year after a brutal nine-month development cycle. However, because of this deadline, Exoddus was not the game that Lorne and Sherry McKenna really envision to be the true sequel. Abe’s Oddysee received a remake in 2014 in the form of Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty! so it’s only fitting that Exoddus receives similar treatment with the upcoming Oddworld: Soulstorm. Ahead of the release the developers, Oddworld Inhabitants, has revealed some new information about the game.
First up is the fact that there will be a free path for the game on PS4 to PS5. The digital version of the game will release on both PS5 and PS4 on April 6th with the PS5 digital version being a free title for PS+ members during April. However, this means that there will not be a free backward path from PS5 to PS4. The physical retail versions of the game will hit shelves a few months later on July 6th. Oddworld Inhabitants have stated that players who purchase the physical retail version of the game on PS5 will get the PS5 digital version at no cost.
Soulstorm will also feature the ability for players to get hints, tips, and walkthrough videos if played on PS5, without having to leave the game. These hints, which use the PS5’s Activity Cards, can be accessed from the specific area of the game that players are struggling with. An active PS Plus membership is required to make use of this feature, but it is handy for players who don’t want to waste time searching the internet and risk seeing spoilers.
The minimum requirements for Oddworld: Soulstorm has been revealed and players will need at least an Intel Quad Core 1.7Ghz, CPU Nvidia GTX 670 or equivalent graphics card, and 8GB of RAM to play the game. The recommended hardware is an equally modest Intel Quad-Core 2.3Ghz CPU, Nvidia GTX 970 or equivalent graphics card, and 16 GB of RAM. The game will be playable on Windows 7 64-Bit, but Windows 10 64-Bit is recommended.
