Okinawa Rush Demo Now Available On Steam

Ever since its successful Kickstarter back in 2017, players have been looking forward to Okinawa Rush. The exact date for the full release of this fast-paced retro-platformer fighting game will be announced shortly, but Okinawa Rush is headed for PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One later this year. However, for those who have been itching to try out this game, there is now a free demo available on Steam.

Okinawa Rush not only features a combat system inspired by fighting games like Street Fighter, but its pixel-art style is also very reminiscent of some of the best-looking Amiga games. In the game, players must take on the Black Mantis clan, a ruthless army of ninjas looting and pillaging Okinawa. They are searching for a legendary training scroll and will kill anyone that gets in their way. Playable characters include the martial arts master Hiro, Meilin, or Shin, and the game can be played either alone or with a friend in the 2-player local co-op mode.

In Okinawa, Rush players can look forward to a fast, fluid combat system that is easy to learn but hard to master thanks to its many moves, combos, juggles, and intuitive parrying system. The game is about intense, skillful gameplay and will include “just frame” commands. Okinawa Rush runs on a custom-made fighting engine, and each character has their own unique moves. In addition to beating up enemies with their fists, players will also be able to use swords, nunchakus, and bo staffs. The different enemies in the game all have their own movesets and weapons, and intense boss battles also await players.

To accommodate players who want to jump straight into the action, Okinawa Rush will have an Arcade mode, but the game also has an engaging story told with carefully crafted pixel-art cut-scenes. The exact date for the full release will be announced shortly, but Okinawa Rush is headed for PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One later this year. Be sure to try out the demo on Steam and add the game to your wishlist if you enjoy the action. Fans can also find more information on the official website or by following the developer and publisher on Twitter.
