TurnOn

TurnOn

TurnOn is a unique platform game in which players must guide a tiny alien spark along electric wires to help restore power to a city experiencing a blackout. The game is very casual and relaxing for the most part, but some unexpected runner-style sections can cause frustration. It is also a very short game, but the healthy dose of achievements helps with the replay value.

Gameplay: The game is casual and relaxing until the runner sections make an appearance.

Graphics: TurnOn features 3D visuals that are viewed from a primarily 2D perspective.

Sound: The jazzy soundtrack is a highlight

Roundabout

Roundabout

Roundabout is a game about traversing narrow city streets to get your passengers to their destination. The catch is that your limousine constantly rotates, so good timing is required to avoid hitting obstacles and blowing up. It is a very short game, but lots of fun, and the cheesy FMV scenes must be seen to be believed. The game is also very forgiving, so anyone should be able to enjoy it despite the challenging concept.

Gameplay: Requires timing and patience, but successfully dodging obstacles is very satisfying.

Graphics: Not spectacular, but colorful and charming.

Sound: The soundtrack is very fitting, as is the unconvincing voice-acting

Bulb Boy

Bulb Boy

Bulb Boy is a strange point-and-click adventure-style game about a boy with a bulb for a head trying to save his family from the evil that took over their house. It features some surprising elements for the genre, such as action scenes and boss battles, along with simple yet fun puzzles to solve. Some parts of the game can be annoying, and the game is relatively short despite its slow pace, but overall, it deserves a closer look.

Gameplay: Bulb Boy differs from your typical point-and-click adventure thanks to the twisted puzzles.

Graphics: The visuals are gory, gross, and actually quite good.

Sound: Bulb Boy features some unnerving sound effects and creepy music

Star Sky

Star Sky

Star Sky is a mysterious, relaxing game about a man on a midnight walk. The stylish 2D silhouette visuals and ethereal soundtrack make for a very atmospheric game. However, it is also very short and can be completed without much of a challenge. Anyone looking for a traditional game will be disappointed by Star Sky, but open-minded players who enjoy unique gaming experiences will enjoy it.

Gameplay: Very short and simple, but also quite charming.

Graphics: Minimalistic but stylish.

Sound: Great ambient sounds and soothing music

Wheels of Aurelia

Wheels of Aurelia

Wheels of Aurelia is a narrative road trip game that takes players along the winding roads of Italy during the seventies. The focus is on the conversations you have with the people you run into on the road, and your choices can lead to one of sixteen different endings. Each playthrough only lasts about fifteen minutes, but the stories are interesting enough, and things can go very differently depending on your choices. The game is a little rough around the edges and won’t appeal to everyone, but it’s certainly not without charm.

Gameplay: The game is very simple but has plenty of replay value.

Graphics: The visuals are not exactly dazzling, but they are pretty stylish.

Sound: No speech, unfortunately, but the soundtrack is good

The Gardens Between

The Gardens Between

The Gardens Between is a relaxing and charming puzzle game based around friendship and memories. It features time manipulation for puzzle solving but never becomes too complicated or convoluted. The visuals are detailed and beautiful while the audio complements the dreamlike atmosphere nicely. While it’s not a very lengthy or particularly challenging game, it still makes for an enjoyable experience.

Gameplay: The puzzles are clever, but never too taxing.

Graphics: Very detailed and beautifully animated.

Sound: The soundtrack is very soothing

Koropokkur in Love ~A Little Fairy’s Tale~

Koropokkur in Love ~A Little Fairy’s Tale~

Koropokkur in Love ~A Little Fairy’s Tale~ is a serviceable kinetic novel featuring a fairy with dreams of becoming human, but the story is just a little too generic for our liking. The game has its moments, but there is nothing here that hasn’t already been done much better before. It is enjoyable enough while it lasts, but unlikely to be something players will give much thought after completing it.

Gameplay: The story is cute but short and generic.

Graphics: Fans of Hinoue Itaru will love the art style, but others might find it dated.

Sound: No voice acting, but the music is decent enough

Bright Paw

Bright Paw

Bright Paw is a great puzzle adventure starring an adorable feline protagonist. The card-based movement mechanics make for interesting puzzles, especially when special abilities are thrown into the mix. While not the most challenging puzzle game available, it’s enjoyable and has a polished look and feel.

Gameplay: The game is not very difficult but remains fun throughout.

Graphics: The art style is neat, with plenty of imaginative levels.

Sound: The soundtrack is beautiful, and the standard of voice acting is very high

I Walk Among Zombies Vol. 1

I Walk Among Zombies Vol. 1

I Walk Among Zombies Vol. 1 is a zombie-themed visual novel with a bit of a twist. Instead of having to fight for his survival against the undead, the protagonist discovers that through some twist of fate they are completely ignoring him. This allows him to indulge in immoral activities, not just with his zombie neighbor, but also another survivor he finds. Overall, the game has a decent story and plenty of uncensored sex scenes, but it is also rather short and ends in a cliffhanger.

Gameplay: The story is engrossing, but the frequent non-consensual sex scenes can feel a bit overdone.

Graphics: Great looking CGs as well as backgrounds.

Sound: The voice acting and soundtrack is decent, but not spectacular

Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition

Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition

Horizon Zero Dawn started as a Playstation 4 exclusive a few years back but makes the transition to PC in this complete edition, which includes The Frozen Wilds expansion. Apart from the technical issues affecting some players, it is a beautiful looking game with a stunning open world to explore. The combat against the many different robotic foes remains thrilling throughout and the game is also not lacking in terms of things to do and places to visit. It can become a little repetitive at times and some of the design elements are a little dated, but overall we had fun from start to finish with this game.

Gameplay: The game world is huge, but it’s fun to explore and more than enough to keep players busy.

Graphics: With the right hardware this game looks downright amazing at times.

Sound: Decent voice acting and a great soundtrack
