A Good Snowman Is Hard To Build

A Good Snowman Is Hard To Build

A Good Snowman Is Hard To Build is a thoroughly entertaining and charming puzzle title suitable for players of all ages. The beautiful 2D visuals and excellent audio complement the addictive puzzle-solving gameplay, which makes for a memorable experience. We would have liked to see a few more puzzles to solve because the ones on offer are so enjoyable. Overall, it is the perfect game for when you feel like something relaxing and non-violent.

Gameplay: The game is challenging and addictive without being frustrating or unfair.

Graphics: The game features charming visuals with plenty of great touches.

Sound: The soundtrack is great, as are the ambient sound effects

Violet: Space Mission

Violet: Space Mission

While Violet: Space Mission features functional visuals and audio, it is the gameplay that impresses the most. The game packs quite a challenge and navigating through the debris strewn areas using only a propulsion pack is no easy feat. The high difficulty might turn off more casual players, but anyone who enjoys a good challenge will appreciate what this game has to offer.

Gameplay: The challenge ramps up very quickly, but the game remains addictive throughout its ten levels.

Graphics: The visuals are good, but nothing spectacular.

Sound: Fitting, but thankfully unobtrusive

Pukka Golf

Pukka Golf

Forget about leisurely strolling around a course, carefully selecting an appropriate club, checking the wind speed and then making a shot. Pukka Golf provides you with a golf ball and a hole to sink it in as quickly as possible while throwing all kinds of obstacles in your way. It is a straightforward concept and done very well, making it both fun to play as well as very addictive. With tons of levels, each with multiple goals, expect Pukka Golf to keep you busy for quite a while.

Gameplay: Very easy to pick up and play, but challenging enough to keep you coming back for more.

Graphics: Simple and straightforward without any clutter, but could benefit from some more variety.

Sound: The audio is unobtrusive, but not very memorable

Gravity Ghost

Gravity Ghost

Gravity Ghost might appear to be a very simple and straightforward game at first, but the more you play it, the deeper it draws you in. Soaring around the levels using the gravitational pull of the planets to your advantage is a great feeling, and we often found ourselves lingering longer on levels than necessary just to soak in the atmosphere. It is a very tranquil and relaxing game with a great story tucked away beneath the surface. If you want to experience a unique title that is not about killing enemies or dying and failing until you succeed, check out Gravity Ghost.

Gameplay: Gravity Ghost is relaxing and entertaining without ever becoming frustrating.

Graphics: The beautiful hand-painted visuals and unique art style set the game apart.

Sound: The soundtrack and voice acting is a perfect match for the tranquil atmosphere of the game

HuniePop

HuniePop

If you are looking for something to be offended by you will find plenty to be outraged about in HuniePop. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a polished and entertaining title that combines a couple of different genres very successfully then you will find that this game is money well spent. Hopefully the developers will flesh out the concept further if they get around to a sequel as there is a lot of potential here.

Gameplay: The puzzle elements are fun and surprisingly strategic, while interacting with the girls is entertaining albeit a little repetitive.

Graphics: Beautifully drawn characters with plenty of clothing and hair variations, but no animations beyond lip synching.

Sound: The professional English voice actresses really bring the characters to life and the soundtrack is rather good too

Tengami

Tengami

The standout features of Tengami are the unique visuals and great soundtrack, but the tranquil gameplay is also quite good. It has no epic story or action, but the gentle, puzzle-solving, relaxing atmosphere makes for an interesting experience. The game doesn’t have a lot of freedom, challenge, or replay value, but it is pretty enjoyable while it lasts and leaves an impression.

Gameplay: The puzzles are relatively straightforward and not very numerous, but interacting with the game world by pulling or sliding parts of the scenery is quite neat.

Graphics: The pop-up book world visuals are simply beautiful.

Sound: The game features an atmospheric and very appropriate soundtrack by David Wise

Words for Evil

Words for Evil

Words for Evil impresses with its fast-paced gameplay, gorgeous pixel-art visuals, and a large cast of characters. The gameplay is geared more towards stringing together words as fast as possible instead of searching for the longest words, which makes for a more action-packed feel. Unfortunately, there is no multi-player mode, but the low price tag means this is an easy and worthwhile impulse buy for all logophiles.

Gameplay: The game is fast-paced and quite addictive.

Graphics: Words for Evil features beautiful pixel art visuals but does not support full-screen mode.

Sound: The soundtrack is catchy and very fitting

Chariot

Chariot

While Chariot might look like a typical platform title, the added challenge of lugging a coffin on wheels around with you everywhere makes a big difference to how it plays. Making the experience even more entertaining is the inclusion of the local co-op mode where teamwork is required to escort the dead king to his final resting place. Thanks to its quirky gameplay and solid challenge it’s hard to beat Chariot, but you had better make sure that you have a controller ready.

Gameplay: Great in single player and even better when played with a friend helping out.

Graphics: Very polished and the cartoon style visuals are quite charming.

Sound: Nice tunes and great voice acting

Melissa K. and the Heart of Gold Collector’s Edition

Melissa K. and the Heart of Gold Collector’s Edition

If you are not a fan of the genre then Melissa K. And The Heart of Gold is probably not going to change your mind, but it has plenty to offer those that do enjoy these type of games. Considering its mobile origins the visuals are actually pretty good and the gameplay is diverse enough that you are not only spending your time scouring screens for hidden objects. The story didn’t have us complete hooked, but as a whole we can recommend this title to anyone that enjoys a polished casual gaming experience with plenty of replay value and extras.

Gameplay: A nice blend of adventuring, puzzle solving and hidden object scenes.

Graphics: Very detailed and featuring some exotic locations.

Sound: Good music, nice sound effects and solid voice acting overall

Team Indie

Team Indie

Team Indie features an all-star lineup of characters taken from some of the best indie titles of recent years. You’ll also have to put these characters to good use as while the game is a platformer at heart it also features a heavy puzzle element. The game doesn’t quite live up to its full potential though and unfortunately there are some annoyances that drag it down. However, if you enjoy the genre and like the characters it should keep you busy for quite a while.

Gameplay: With its large cast of characters and challenging levels it will take you a while to see and do everything.

Graphics: Nice character designs, but the backgrounds are a bit bland and the animation could have been better.

Sound: None of the tunes, except for the one during boss battles, are exactly memorable
