Nightmares from the Deep: The Cursed Heart

Nightmares from the Deep: The Cursed Heart

Rescue your daughter from the clutches of an undead pirate in this enjoyable hidden object game. Or, if hidden object hunting is not your thing, do so instead by playing a couple of solo Mahjong rounds. The Cursed Heart features an interesting storyline, great locations and plenty of puzzles to solve. The only thing holding it back is the low resolution cut-scenes and less than stellar voice acting.

Gameplay: Rather easy, but very enjoyable.

Graphics: The locations look great, but the cut-scenes plays at a very low resolution.

Sound: Nice music and sound effects, but the voice acting could have been better

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception

While Uncharted 3 is a great game, it falls somewhat short of the jaw dropping thrills delivered in the last game. The story is little less inspiring and the whole game has a bit of a rushed feel to it. There are some great set pieces and the usual assortment of exotic locations but nothing that tops Uncharted 2.

Gameplay: Epic but somehow not quite as epic as the last installment.

Graphics: Still some of the best on the system.

Sound: Up to the usual high standards

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Uncharted 2 improves on just about every aspect of the original game to deliver one of the best action experiences on the PS3. The locations are exotic and varied, the enemies cunning and the dialogue great. Virtually every single chapter has a stand out moment that will leave you slack jawed with amazement. Definitely one of the finest games on the system.

Gameplay: The perfect mix of action and adventure.

Graphics: A showcase of what the PS3 can deliver.

Sound: Great voice acting and excellent music

Arcana Heart 3 LOVE MAX!!!!!

Arcana Heart 3 LOVE MAX!!!!!

Arcana Heart 3 LOVE MAX!!!!! has a lot to offer fans of the genre with its large roster of unique characters, interesting Arcanas and fast paced fighting. The character designs are great and it is only the pixalated sprites that let down the visuals somewhat. The fighting offers a lot of depth, but even novices can have fun by switching to Simple mode. For a great 2D fighter that is unlike anything else available on PC give Arcana Heart 3 LOVE MAX!!!!! a shot.

Gameplay: Fast, frantic and once you have mastered the moves, a lot of fun.

Graphics: Sprite are a little low-res and the 4:3 resolution makes things feel a bit cramped, but overall quite good.

Sound: Full Japanese voice acting and some nice albeit unremarkable background music

Tennis in the Face

Tennis in the Face

Tennis In The Face has much in common with Angry Birds, but smacking clowns, cops, hipsters, and other foes with tennis balls stays entertaining. The game is easy enough for casual players to have fun, but chasing a high score and completing levels with the fewest shots is also a nice challenge. There is nothing groundbreaking about the game, but when it is this much fun and cheap to boot, it doesn’t really matter.

Gameplay: The game offers nothing radically new but still a lot of fun, especially in short bursts.

Graphics: Tennis in the Face has nice character designs and bold colors, but the backgrounds are slightly bland.

Sound: The music is ok, but the sound effects are very good

Highschool Romance

Highschool Romance

Highschool Romance is a lighthearted slice of life visual novel with a rather small cast and very short story. Despite not taking very long to complete and not really covering any new ground it does manage to be quite entertaining. There is some fanservice, but overall the game is quite tame considering the subject matter.

Gameplay: The game is short and the story not exactly original, but it is interesting and well written.

Graphics: The unique visual style takes a while to get used to, but does fit the game.

Sound: No speech, but a few of the audio tracks are rather good

Zoo Keeper

Zoo Keeper

If you enjoy puzzle games that requires a keen eye and quick reflexes then give Zoo Keeper a try. It’s not going to win any awards for the visuals and sounds but the gameplay is addictive enough to warrant a purchase. The stylus controls fit the game perfectly and you’ll be surprised by how quickly you can get sucked in.

Gameplay: Simple but very addictive. Works well with the touch screen too.

Graphics: Extremely basic but cute and colorful.

Sound: Too annoying and repetitive

Duke Nukem Forever: The Doctor Who Cloned Me

Duke Nukem Forever: The Doctor Who Cloned Me

While The Doctor Who Cloned me is a entertaining experience it is not going to change the minds of those who have turned their back on the main game. With a four to five hour campaign feature plenty of shooting and new locations it is worth the price but don’t expect any visual improvements or drastic changes.

Gameplay: More focused than the main game but still some annoyances.

Graphics: No real improvements over the main campaign.

Sound: Some more quips from Duke but the music is less memorable

Planet Diver

Planet Diver

Planet Diver is fast-paced and very addictive when played in short bursts, but the lack of mission variety does mean it can become repetitive. Still, you get a lot of content for a very low price, which definitely makes it worth the investment in time and money. Just keep in mind that quick reflexes are required when braving the deep, obstacle-filled chasms through which your wingsuit diver loves to plunge.

Gameplay: Planet Diver is fast-paced, challenging, and quite addictive, although it can become repetitive.

Graphics: It takes a while to get used to the retro-style scanlines, but the overall effect is quite nice.

Sound: The music is a little unusual but very fitting

Kirby: Power Paintbrush

Kirby: Power Paintbrush

With so many DS titles feeling like rehashed Gameboy Advance games it is great to see this ones like this finally start to emerge. It uses the same formula first seen in Yoshi Touch N Go but evolves it into a full fledged game. It comes highly recommended to all platform fans.

Gameplay: Full stylus control throughout makes for an interesting challenge.

Graphics: Very nice 2D visuals.

Sound: Cheerful and uplifting
