New Gameplay Trailer For The Dark Eye: Book of Heroes Highlights Character Creation

The Dark Eye: Book of Heroes is an upcoming action-RPG by Wild River Games and they have just released a brand new gameplay trailer. Fans of The Dark Eye tabletop pen and paper role-playing system on which the game is based will know how important character creation is, so it’s great to see that the trailer highlights this feature.

Character creation takes the form of fate cards dealt by a mysterious fortune teller. These cards, along with the questions asked by the fortune teller determines the stats, skills, and story of the character. The trailer reveals that during the creation of their character players will be able to choose either a Dwarf, Elf, Half-Elf, or Human with information about the traits of each shown on the card details. Players can also pick from four groups of professions that have three different professions per group. Care has to be taken when choosing from the 12 professions as each has its own advantages as well as weaknesses. In addition, players get to pick a past for their character as well as what it is that drives them. These choices have an effect on attributes, so pick wisely. Finally, players can select what it is that has made their character an adventurer which in turn defines their personal mission in the game. Of course, players are also able to alter the facial features of their characters before taking on their first quest.

The Dark Eye is one of the biggest pen-and-paper RPGs in Germany, giving even the Dungeons and Dragons license a run for its money, so it is going to be interesting to see if Book of Heroes can live up to expectations. Players have been waiting for more adventures in the mystical lands of Aventuria and experiencing all the action with online friends is enticing, to say the least.
