Children of Morta

Children of Morta

From the beautiful hand-painted pixel art to the moving family-oriented storyline, Children of Morta is a game unlike any other. The game itself is extremely addictive and following the adventures of the Bergson family kept us glued to our screens. If you are looking for an action RPG that is not just a lot of fun to play, but also has a lot of heart, then Children of Morta should be at the top of your list.

Gameplay: Challenging, addictive and just plain fun to play.

Graphics: Beautiful hand pained pixel art with smooth animations.

Sound: The music, sound effects, and narrator all sound superb

Overdungeon 超载地牢

Overdungeon 超载地牢

Overdungeon is a nice combination of rogue-like elements, card games, and the tower defense genre. With three playable characters and more than 100 cards as well as powerful relics, it is a game that easily sucks you in with its addictive gameplay. The translation quality is a little rough and the game could definitely benefit from a bit more polish, but for sheer, chaotic fun it is hard to beat.

Gameplay: The random elements can result in some really over the top battles.

Graphics: Decent, but not spectacular.

Sound: Not bad

Dreamscaper by Afterburner Studios

Dreamscaper by Afterburner Studios

Everyone who has ever dealt with depression will know what a battle it can be to overcome. This is the situation in which Cassidy, the protagonist of Dreamscaper, finds herself, except in her case it is somewhat more literal. Cassidy actually has the ability to dive into her subconscious and take on the surreal nightmares that she wrestles with. It’s a pretty unique premise for a game and one of the reasons why we suggest checking out the Kickstarter for Dreamcaper by Afterburner Studios. Dreamscaper is an upcoming ARPG Roguelite blend that promises to combine elements from brawlers as well as top-down shooters, and dungeon crawlers

Streets of Rogue

Streets of Rogue

Streets of Rogue is a deceptively simple looking game, but scratch beneath the surface and you’ll find plenty of depth. It has a large selection of character classes, each with their own unique playing styles and a procedurally generated city in which to cause chaos. The amount of mission objectives is rather limited, but the ways in which you can go about accomplishing them is almost limitless. Overall, Streets of Rogue is an extremely addictive game with a ton of replay value.

Graphics: Simple, but not without charm.

Sound: The soundtrack is excellent and the sound effects really good too.

Gameplay: Extremely addictive and packed with things to do

Neverinth (CreAct Games)

Neverinth (CreAct Games)

It’s not often that we see indie developers take a stab at the “Soulsborne” series, but that is exactly what CreAct Games is attempting with Neverinth. The game, which is currently in Early Access on Steam, challenges players to explore the ever-changing halls of the Neverinth and uncover the history of the Valkyrie. The most recent update to the game added a brand new Valkyrie, the katana wielding Proud Aspirant, who is the third out of a promised five playable characters in Neverinth

World Premiere Trailer For Roguelike Hero Released

World Premiere Trailer For Roguelike Hero Released

Action fans who enjoy a good laugh should definitely be adding Roguelike Hero by Carrya. Tec. to their wishlists. Much to our delight, the game is heavily inspired by the style of Stephen “The King of Comedy” Chow, which caught our attention immediately. With Roguelike Hero, the developers set out to present an absurd and funny action experience with trolling mechanics

Everreach: Project Eden (Elder Games)

Everreach: Project Eden (Elder Games)

2019 has been a great year for games and in addition to the titles that has already been released there are still a lot of upcoming ones to be excited about. September in particular looks like it is going to be leaving gamers with no spare time for anything else. However, one game that definitely should not be overlooked this September is Everreach: Project Eden by Elder Games. For those unfamiliar with Elder Games, it is an independent game development team that was founded by Ede Tarsoly and they have been around since 2007. Ede also handled most of the projects, along with external freelancers, up until 2016. It was after this that things changed, thanks to Everreach, which is their most ambitious title to date. Thanks to the size and scope of the game, the core team at Elder Games grew to five people and over a dozen external freelancers were also brought in to bring this ambitious title to life

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona

For fans of the series that missed this game the first time around, this is a great chance to see where it all started. Newer players might find the game to be a bit dated, but it fits the hand-held perfectly and makes for a very enjoyable experience. It’s not without its flaws, however, so be sure you have a lot of patience before you attempt to finish this one.

Gameplay: Feels a bit dated compared to modern games, but is still very playable.

Graphics: Very nice cut-scenes but the game graphics really show their age.

Sound: Revamped audio brings this side of the game up to date

Warhammer: Chaosbane

Warhammer: Chaosbane

Warhammer: Chaosbane is an isometric action role playing game that is set in the Warhammer Fantasy Battles Universe. It offers four diverse characters to play with and also allows players to join up three other friends either locally or online. The game is really enjoyable, but a bit rough in places, especially in terms of variety and loot. It is fun while it lasts, but currently the amount of end-game content that is available is not as good as it could have been. Hopefully future updates to the game will continue to build on its solid base, but until then it is bound to disappoint some players who expected more depth as well as variety.

Gameplay: Great selection of characters and plenty of skills to use on hordes of enemies.

Graphics: Very detailed, but it doesn’t take long to see everything the game has to offer.

Sound: Decent music, but some of the voices could have been much better
